Not forgetting that Boycs is also England's Number 1 ODI cricketer - albeit only alphabetically ahead of the 10 other's who played in the first ODI.

Not just alphabetically.

England batted first and he took first strike. So in every respect he is England's number one player unless one takes the toss into account then the captain Illingworth becomes number one. :)
