Which cricketers have obtained a new highest score the most times?

It's all in the wording tbh. If you said "new best score" that'd make sense. "New highest score" just doesn't work. Because "highest" literally just means it's the highest number.
I'll agree with that. That being said, what they really mean by highest score is best score, which balances nice with best bowling. As such, jump on board and start counting *'s

As long as thread title says "new highest score" I'll fight it to my dying breath

not really though, one of the stupider things I've argued on the internet about. And that's saying something.

Word Nazi!

You are failing to appreciate the wide leverage in use of words across various fields of endeavour and being a word nazi.

- Billings made a HS in each of his first 5 bats.
- Buttler, Hales, Root, Kohli, Amla, Duminy, Miller, Kulasekera are all on 8. Root with a HS of 125, is the smart money to get to 9 first.
- Stokes 101 from 7, Willey 13* (4) and Lakmal 10 (7) are in good spots.

The rise of Lakmal's batting is one of the biggest surprises over the past 6 months or so. These runs could tip the scale in SL's favour.

Question NUFAN, do you count the very first score a batsman makes as a new highest score? If yes, what if your first score is a duck?

He's scored slightly over 29% of his career test runs (116/397) in his last 4 innings, out of 55 innings total. Hope he can keep up this level of improvement.

Also, on a slightly tangential note, Morne Morkel's 40 from the recent test shows up on cricinfo as his best score, specifically instead of his previous 40 (he was out both times), because this one came off 63 balls instead of 134. Fair enough. Does this mean that 'officially', a golden duck would be ranked above a duck of 2 or more balls even though it's objectively a less useful innings (in tests, anyway). Would a 0-ball duck come above all of these? Or are they considered special cases?

I've counted a first score duck as a new highest score because scoring a duck in a Test match is a better achievement compared to never getting past the Singapore Slingers Under 16 team.

If someone scores the same, I don't count it as a higher score unless the first innings was out and the more recent one was not out.
