The Woes of NZC

NZ lack talent simpleas , best sportmen all play rugby. They got bigger issues then the Windies. If it wasn't for a slightly better infrastruture (says more Windies lack of infrastruture) they will have greater issue then the Windies.

Wouldn't surprise if Bangladesh beat them in Test coming up. Will show where they are really at IMO.

Oh don't be silly. Bangladesh will get stuffed in every game. And we most certainly don't have bigger issues than the west indies.

Would almost - almost - go so far as to say I'll eat my computer if Bangladesh win a Test.

I would be with you if the Bangla boys were at home but New Zealand at home are still a decent/good outfit. And I can’t see any of the Bangladesh batsmen particularly enjoying themselves or any of the Bangladeshi seamers for that matter, unless they have a secret firebrand in waiting.

I'm not too well-versed with what happens in NZC, but from what I have seen of recent Kiwi teams, they're well-balanced, well-rounded and play well as a unit. They're very versatile, but often lack that something extra to convert a good start in a tournament into a tournament win.

Ill informed posts based on mythical stereotypes and failing to notice the idiotic selections of players and coaching staff of late. If Bangladesh even come close to winning a test Bracewell and the rest will be dead before they leave the ground. In our conditions they have very very little chance of winning, ND crushed them in a one day game for goodness sake.

The idiotic selections are more down to lack of real options for selectors or coach to select from. Take the openers spot, how many specialist openers who haven't been tired are really good enough. Then you look at the seamers and really is there depth, no wonder they keep picking these players on form who aren't international standard.

Also apart from the bowling I thought Bangladesh played quite well against ND.

A lot easier to come away with your first big win when no really expects anything of you. As well as the side you playing is down in confidence but still expected to win comfortably. Sometimes it is harder for a side like Bangladesh with their home fans to win these type of matches at home, as there is bit of expection from the home fans they might be able to pull off a win.

Excuse me? The only reason they even managed to make 200 was because Mortaza managed to slog a few fours at the end. And I personally think that having a decent bowling lineup is usually pretty important in winning games. Northern could barely make it to a hundred against Auckland last week. But against Bangladesh they suddenly look international class. Bangladesh just got flattened by arguably the worst side in the domestic comp this year. Face it, they don't have a prayer, no matter how poor NZ have been playing of late, and that goes double for the test matches.

Ever heard of the term getting used to conditions....

The only place we lack depth is the opening slot. We've just had alot of bowling injuries of late and if you try to tell me that Hopkins selection ahead of Fulton is justified I hope from now on that all your itches are unreachable and some kid in baggy trousers around his ankles writes obscenities with weed killer on your lawn!

Our middle order depth is very very good, our bowlers are good test bowlers but crap in one dayers bar Mills, Bond, Patel who we never select, Oram and Vettori. We only lack openers and that situation is improving thank god.

Inferior might be accurate, but saying a team is vastly inferior is just giving your opp no respect at all and just asking to be beaten.
Well, considering that Bangladesh have never won a test match against a major cricketing nation, and haven't really shown any significant improvement in the longer form of the game, I really don't think they've done much to earn any respect. They might cause a shock in one of the ODI's. But they've got sweet FA chance of winning a test.

Although to be honest, this discussion doesn't really belong in this thread.

The thing is how often do you see any side go into matches these days with a full strength bowling attack. With all the back ot back matches all sides have major injury problems, basically every 2nd tour. The fact that all it takes is a couple injuries and there is no one to replace them with says a fair bit, about the lack of depth for mine.

I never understood why Hopkins is in the side, but at the end of day his not the first specialist keeper to get a chance after the regular keeper moves up the order. So it is not as if it is an untired options, that many sides haven't tired in the past to get more runs out of their current keeper batsmen, as specialist. One would say Hopkins' selection is more to do with McCullum importance with the bat then the fact he is better then Fulton or whoever.

Remember that Hopkins was down to take the gloves yesterday too, so it was obviously a plan to get more out of McCullum.

Bond
Franklin
Mills
Oram
Patel
Vettori
Gillespie
Mason
Martin

All good FC and test bowlers and in the case of Mills and Gillespie, good prospects. Gillespie is dire in ODIs but he's a very good test bowler.

And Hopkins serves no purpose in the NZ side at all except if McCullum dies, then I would pick Bevan Griggs who can actually bat. Hopkins ahead of Sinclair and Fulton is a disgrace, end of story.
