Alphabet Teams

I love 'what-ifs' and 'Best XI's' and as such I didn't spend my week of Annual Leave gardening - as promised. Instead I sat down and tried to generate a viable test team based on each letter of the alphabet. It was, at times, a struggle (especially trying to figure out Indian and Pakistani surnames / first names - no offence intended), but fun never-the-less.

The A Team

Dennis L. Amis
Marvan S Atapattu
Nathan J Astle
Azharuddin, Mohammad +
James C Adams
Leslie E G Ames *
Asif Iqbal
Abdul Razzaq
Abdul Qadir
Curtley E.L. Ambrose
Terence M Alderman

The B Team

Geoffrey Boycott
David C Boon
Donald G Bradman *
Kenneth F Barrington
Allan R Border
Ian T Botham
Mark V Boucher +

The C Team

Ian M Chappell
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Denis C S Compton
Gregory S Chappell *
Martin D Crowe
Daryll J Cullinan
Christopher L Cairns
Horace B Cameron +
Colin E H Croft
Andrew R Caddick
Bhagwat S Chandrasekhar

The D Team

Rahul Dravid *
Edward R Dexter
Pinnaduwage A De Silva
Basil L D'Oliveira
Reginald A Duff
Peter J L Dujon +
Graham T Dowling
Alan K Davidson
Graham R Dilley
Allan A Donald
Dilip R Doshi

.....more to follow shortly

Strongest is probably L, in my opinion. Very solid batting lineup, superb bowling. G is also a very good one, as are M and W. Interesting teams anyway.

Interesthing thread.

Thank you. I think B (bloody Bradman ), H and L are probably my favourites. I have an old cricket simulator at home written by a chap called John Cole. It seems quite accurate and teams are very easy to code. If I have the time I might run a little 'what-if' series to see which letter comes out on top.

You need to get outside in the sun!

Thats amazing though... Well done. W's attack wouldnt be much fun to face.

These are very good teams and it would be great if there were clones made of people like 100 years ago so that we could all have them playing in a tournament.
