The point is India has to use its powerplay in its fifty overs, Gangs cant wait till 45th over to use it. 3 main of his main bowlers seems to have forgotten the art of bowling today.

He is trying his best out there, now only if his bowlers showed some character out there. Since that 'Duffer' from Calcutta is still our captain, can we cut down the name calling please.

Yadav on... fourteen off. I think it might be P45 time, Saurav.

Considering that the only spinner in the team has bowled 5 of his overs, I dont think he has much choice here.

You had two spinners operating quite happily from either end, tying things down and Sehwag had 2-14. Read up as to why both SJS and I would have used the spinners rather than medium pacers during the power play period.

"The only spinner in the team" is something you can never, ever say about any Indian team. They always have at least two spin bowlers. In this case, the other one is Sehwag.

Well what do you know, Sehwag is back on

Edit: And Yuvraj from the other end.

Well I was wrong on that one and yes Sehwag was bowling well from the other end as well. IMO That would only delay the inevitable, our pacers still need to bowl well If India are to win this one.

Styris stumped on 37. Sehwag gets his third wicket.

    Dhoni gets a stumping too

Sounded a bit silly for Styris to dance down the wicket at this stage, but NZ have plenty of batting to come. Hopefully McMillan will do something stupid too.

I personally would have used the spinners during the powerplay.

Alternatively the powerplay could have been used in the last 5 overs.
NZ are going to get their on run-rate, India needs wickets. The only way India is going to win is if it bowls out NZ, using the powerplay at the end when a few wickets are needed would have been the best option.
Of course that would require India taking wickets (which they won't) and their pacers bowling well at the end (which they won't); but when you have been pasted around the park and are in the dirt risks need to be taken.

Batsmen to bat - Oram, Cairns, Mcmillan, McCullum, Vincent with Astle still in the middle. I am still optimistic though. Let's see If Bhajji & Co. can still turn it around,
