Butt and Taufeeq in my opinion are the only two Pakistani batsmen to have solid enough opening techniques.
Taufeeq has got to be one of the most disspointing openers tried, his footwork never seems right, cant time the ball, cant play good off/on drive shots, in simple words he cant do anything!!!! Hameed is more talented then him, if i had an option, i would always prefer him above Taufeeq.

Just a quick modification (to suite my personal taste) in deeps team.

Taufeeq
Butt
Khan
Inzi
Youhana
Kamal
Akmal
Sami
Shabbir
Shoaib
Kaneria

Butt and Taufeeq in my opinion are the only two Pakistani batsmen to have solid enough opening techniques.

Khan, Inzi, Youhana, Kamal is a pretty capable middle-order. With Sami coming at eight, the tail starts relatively early but this is a risk you would have to take if you want four specialist bowlers to take 20 wickets against a capable opposition.

Afridi, Razzaq and to a large extent Malik, Rana and Hameed provide some good back-up.
Hurray for someone putting Kamal in the team, and Shabbir, and picking four specialist bowlers!

I've now changed my opinion on Collymore. He's now in my first XI.

Gayle
Hinds
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Samuels/Bravo
Baugh/Ramdin
Bravo/Powell/Lawson/Best
Edwards
Collins
Collymore

Yeah, Collymore looked in great nick as soon as he was brought back for the one-dayers. Devon's shown enough to be given a good run too, particularly as all the other young batsmen are demonstrably unready for international cricket.

My team/squad for Sri Lanka would be:

C Gayle
D Smith
R Sarwan
B Lara
S Chanderpaul
W Hinds
D Bravo
D Ramdin
F Edwards
P Collins
C Collymore

Samuels
Browne
D Powell
A Spinner

A spinner won't get selected for a while now at least according to Bennett King. I'd say Lawson and/or Best along with another batsman say, Ramdass/Pagon will go.

There's no spinner worthy of getting in th team at the moment. Sarwan and Gayle will have to do. The most promising spinner out of this year's FC competition, Nikita Miller, was a rookie. Banks and Mohammed, weren't really lighting it up. Miller though's been selected for the 'A' Team Tour.

It turns out that the WICB wanted the A Team guys to tour without pay. And now the President Teddy Griffith says he's not going up for re-election next month.

I reckon man. How do you reckon we should 'dispose' of them? Shooting, or something more cunning? At least one shot normally gets the job done.

what a sad, pathetic, dismal bunch of losers. Now we can't even beat the WI. :@
Good to see you have retained your sense of humour.

I bet Inzy won the pattie-eating contest though.

Seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed the series, although I had to sweet-talk the landlord to have it on in the pub (not that many cricket fans in Ireland - will have to start going to Clontarf Cricket Club).

I was surprised to read that Shahid Afridi was involved in a bust-up - when he was at Derbyshire he didn't seem to care about anything other than getting off the field as quick as he could - mind you, Derbyshire in April is a bit chilly.

Incidentally, Cricinfo's 'Player Page' have now removed 'Derbyshire' from Afridi's 'Major Teams' section - that now just reads ' Pakistan, Griqualand West, Habib Bank Limited, Karachi, Leicestershire'.

They got that right then.

Eyes not spreadsheets
All Pakistan's central contracts renewed.

That means that Abdul Razzaq is still in category A (one of only 4 players) - it does strike me that he might be over-rated in that sense?

Also, guess which fast bowler was last to sign after raising objections to some of the clauses?

In an interesting development Pak cricket board has decided to send their promissing pacers to India to train at MRF pace academy. Pak has obviously realised that the standarde of pacers has declined alarmingly in their coutry while their neighbours are doing remarkably in that area...thanks to MRF.

I wonder if Pak would consider sending the living legend Rana Naveed ul Hassan to India. He can actually be a lot usefull to Indian young pacers, as he can show them as to how NOT to bowl in test matches :p

marc71178,
I agree... Razzaq may be an important player in the ODIs but not in the tests.

nehrafan,
Go away troll.
