Lessons for indian team after the indo-pak test series

As the test series is over and the trophy was shared.Well played both the teams. Now here are the suggestions and improvements for indian team in tests. More comments welcome.
LAXMAN AND GANGULY
Both of them must be axed for the next test series against whichever country, and kaif and yuvraj can be brought in. They must be told in no uncertain terms that past doesnt count and they have to deliver on consistent basis. Not just making 50's once in a while. If ganguly cant be kicked out , he has to be atleast rested for 2 series and play in domestic competition till he gets his form and confidence back.Laxman can be unceremoniusly dropped unless he scores consistently against all teams.
TENDULKAR
Though he has achieved lot of milestones, he better be told by selectors that he should learn to play under pressure. Otherwise its as good as having another x,y, z in team who can make 30's and 40's and contribute 0's when put under pressure.Alternate option is to keep sachin out of atleast one test series till he changes his mindset.
PATHAN
I see another zaheer khan in him. Overhyped bowler. Unless i see him getting couple of 5 wicket hauls from him against good teams , he is as good as zaheer khan to me.Anyway time is still there for pathan.
HARBHAJAN
Should be told to improve his performance on consistent basis or else get dropped.

personally i think it would be better for pathan himself, if they sent him back to domestic cricket so that he could get some confidence and some good performances before they pick him again. i think they picked him far too early.

How can you tell a quality player to learn to play under pressure or be axed? Firstly every innings at the top level against Test standard teams is under pressure. Secondly, some players handle pressure well and others don't. Steve Waugh didn't learn to be a pressure player, he just was. Only a fool would drop Sachin Tendulkar based on his seeming tendency to fail in some pressure situations. That first innings hundred "under no pressure" could win you the game.

exactly, the same could possibly be said about ganguly and why he shouldnt be dropped seeing as he is now under great pressure almost every innings he plays in

Anyone who'd seriously prefer Kaif to either Laxman or Ganguly in Test-cricket needs their head examined.

This series was exactly what Tendulkar needed - after 15 single-figure scores in 24 innings (but with 51, 55, 44, 241*, 60* 194* and a miraculous 55 as 7 of those other 9 innings) he's now made 20, 32*, 94, 52, 52, 41, 16. Which couldn't be a better riposte. Hopefully the centuries will return in full measure soon.
But he's hopefully now escaped that ghastly inconsistency.

People don't seem to realise that every player to play Test-cricket in the last 30 years at least has had pressure the most of us can never dream of.
For the best, pressure doesn't affect them, otherwise Tendulkar would never be able to bat given that the hopes of a billion often hinge on him.

axe tendulkar , laxman?... this is insane.. everyone goes through tough times .. im sure they will bounce back in no time given the quality and talent of these players.

You want drop Ganguly, Laxman and Tendulkar over one failed series? First of all, Tendulkar did quite well in this series, and the other two are in a slump. Harbhajan did well, he's not at risk at all. As for Pathan, he was never that good anyway. Obviously that pressure of being India's best pace bowler and being the next "Wasim Akram" has hurt him.

One lesson I think maybe missed.

The tailend batting in tests should be. (depending on which of these five are playing and assuming its normal test match batting and not a race against time)
Irfan
Kumble
Balaji
Zaheer
Harbhajan
Nehra

In one dayers it could be (assuming slam bam tactics are required)

Irfan
Balaji
Zaheer
Harbhajan
Kumble
Nehra

Kumble, the Indian captain keeps forgetting, has six first class centuries to his credit , besides fifteen 50's, a top score of 154 not out and a first class avererage of 23.

The other five named above have a grand total of ZERO centuries, ten 50's and none of them averages better than Kumble.

Surely, Kumbles straight bat does not impress skipper Ganguly as do Harbhajans chopper shots.

Kumble is not dumb and he must be seething in sitting in the pavillion watching these goons throwing away their wickets when the teams interests require otherwise.

If someone should be axed from the test team, it is Ganguly. As much as I want Ganguly to do well and keep his place in the team, there is no room for such pathetic performances when we could have a more consistent, energetic and athletic guy like Kaif in the side in his place. Pathan seriously needs to be rested for a match or two so he can sort things out and perhaps improve his fitness (if that is the problem). He won't be able to do too much damage the way he's bowling right now.

Test Side: Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid (c), Tendulkar, Laxman, Kaif, Karthik, Pathan/Nehra, Kumble, Harbhajan, Balaji/Zaheer ... hopefully this forces Ganguly to fix his batting

TBF they did promote Kumble ahead of even Pathan in the last innings. Btw he tops the batting averages for the Indian team with 95.00!
