Seems as though I have the only reasonably close and genuinely exciting match. My hybrid team of six 1st teamers and five fill-ins will be, I think, slightly the happier at lunch.

The players are off the field for lunch.
End of Over 35 (2 runs). Cymru Gurgitaters: 126-2, runrate=3.60
Heath 9-1-36-1
Akhtar* 39 (45 balls)
Mohammed 48 (115 balls)
Last Wicket: Jeffery c. Tomkins b. Heath 26 (FOW: 61/2)

Have my declaration set at 320, far more attacking than most of you by the sounds of things. Though it's probably pretty academic, as I only really have Cash, Resp/Sup, who I'm expecting to put up much of a fight after these two. I'd set my spread at 250/270 ATM, time will tell if that will be a competitive score on a Slow pitch.

Usual story for me -- having been whittled down to 62/4, Sandwith (72 from 73) and Reed (95 from 118) have come together and I'm now 197/4 and going along at over 7 an over. Reed's not bad, I shudder to think what this is doing to Sandwith's PFL.

Any idea when the new ball becomes available?

I've set my declaration target at an optimistic 500 -- basically, plan was to (if I lost the toss and got put in to bat) try and bat out the day.

I see what you mean, but my thinking was that I've got most of my batting on V.Def, because I've left out most of my stars, meaning that I'm inevitably going to score pretty slowly. Therefore I figured that, in the hypothetical event of actually getting three hundred and odd, I'd want to press the advantage home, and go for 14 points for the win, rather than one extra batting point.

Anyway, lost Akhtar, but not doing too badly. Their worst two bowlers are on ATM, so I really need to try and push up beyond 200 before their Sup and Wond come back into the attack.

End of Over 46 (6 runs). Cymru Gurgitaters: 166-3, runrate=3.61
Ingleby 14-0-55-1
Cash* 15 (18 balls)
Mohammed 66 (146 balls)
Last Wicket: Akhtar c. Tomkins b. Cook 44 (FOW: 133/3)

have four more overs of crud, then I imagine it'll be Tumble Time for my boys! Bollocks! Have to go to the dentist now, hope I'm back in time to catch up with the commentary before the close of play!

End of Over 26 (1 runs). The Heath CC: 86-3, runrate=3.31
Lead by 36 runs. (Essex Eagles 50-10)
Aldred 1-0-1-0
Kepler* 40 (71 balls)
Gardiner 20 (43 balls)

Last Wicket: Thorpe c. Seargeant b. Al 22 (FOW: 31/3)

Lost Thorpe soon after lunch, but have been relatively untroubled since. Kepler has sped up after an incredibly slow start, helped by two 6's in two balls, and Gardiner has done well since he came in. Hoping to get a few batting bonus points now, as I still have a fair bit of batting to come, and their bowling doesn't seem up to all that much apart from one of their opening pair.

Just stood up. Felt good.
Nice. Did you put your hand up to be counted? Were you tempted to come to the party?

I bet you executed your skills something wicked, too.

In my match, I bowled out my opponents for 56, and am presently 69-6 on a green wicket. Not wildly convinced by FC thus far, it has to be said, but at least my tailenders seem to be lasting more than 1 ball each.

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 42 (1 runs). The Heath CC: 126-3, runrate=3.00
Lead by 76 runs. (Essex Eagles 50-10)
Aldred 9-0-21-0
Gardiner* 39 (82 balls)
Kepler 57 (129 balls)

Last Wicket: Thorpe c. Seargeant b. Al 22 (FOW: 31/3)

Good session - 114 runs for the loss of Thorpe. Kepler and Gardiner could do with speeding up a bit, but can't really complain. Does anyone know if you have to reach 360 runs within a certain amount of overs to get maximum batting points, or is there no limit to how much time you can take?

Tuck 2-2-0-1
Kilgallon* 0 (4 balls)

Solid. Hopefully Shaka will see sense and take Tuck off after 6-7 overs.

Sent a prof and a respectable in to open, instructing them to play very defensively. Glad they listened.

Challis* 1 (11 balls)
Gilligan 0 (13 balls)

Huh. I'm now 103-7, my bowler with abys/med batting having made a seventy-two ball 2. That is some Boycott-esque stuff right there. It is also, given the quality of the bowlers he was facing, quite hilarious.

Oops, 104-8.

Edit: 108-9. Nice to see "farming the strike" is as alien a concept to FC as it is to OD.

Still getting BT-shafted and then some. Meanwhile the 'captain' decides to bowl every single bowler on or longer than the max overs/spell in priority order.

Two BT-specials each:

End of Over 63 (1 runs). Phils hotspurs: 166-10, runrate=2.63
Lead by 106 runs. (Scaly Piscine CC 60-10)
Pace 15-3-46-3
Townsend* 9 (15 balls)

Won't do my BT bank balance or my sunny disposition much good this match. Last 6 went down for 3 runs.

Going along swimmingly in my plan to contrive a three-day match:

End of Over 15 (4 runs). Asterix XI: 28-0, runrate=1.87
Gowshall 8-2-19-0
Challis* 13 (50 balls)
Gilligan 15 (40 balls)
