Here's my team after two games :( so not that great. Any suggestions for me so far?
I surprisingly won my first game :D Other team needed about 20 off 7 overs, 4 wickets to spare, and Brittian cleaned up the tail :) He got 4/18 off 9 in that game.

You basically need to replace all your worthless stamina players. Except for Brittain all the nets are a waste because you can get better trainees for virtually nothing.

Put a minimum of 2000 Battrick rating, a maximum of 30000 current bid, maximum age of 17 and minimum stamina of feeble in the transfer market search.

Guys like this are fine:

Dev Ahmed (1064450)
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, worthless batting form, respectable bowling form, sublime
A destructive player with respectable leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: Knightly Warriors
Nationality: India
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 2,748
Wages: £444 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: worthless Concentration: feeble
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: worthless

I can tell from his wage he'll pop to competent bowling very quickly. Look for at least mediocre-feeble players. If the wage is 300-350 don't bother with them - this means they'll take ages to get the first bowling/batting pop. Try and get one wicket-keeper trainee - these are great for training up from 17.

This guy would be good too - captaincy material, highish wage and has some fielding.

13. Joe Sutton (1061949)
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, abysmal batting form, mediocre bowling form, sublime
A destructive player with superb leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: Aussie Oracles
Nationality: England
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 2,075
Wages: £398 p/w

Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: feeble

These will be guys 2 and 3 on the search if you're quick.

Appleyard - 1x Batting
Ludlow - 1 x Batting
Stroud - 2 x Batting
Groves - 1 x Bowling, 1 x Fitness
Meyer - 1 x Bowling, 1 x Fitness
Verhoeven - 2 x Bowling

Groves is due to pop to Mediocre fitness tomorow, and then Superb bowling in the last 1/2 weeks of the season. Stroud is the same for batting, & Meyer the same for Bowling.

Verhoeven, Ludlow & Appleyard most likely won't have anymore pops until early next season.

However, my nets are in need of a shuffle around since i got a great YP yesterday.

I really want to give him at least 1 batting & 1 Wicket Keeping net, and ideally 2 x Batting & 1 x Wicket Keeping. I'm currently looking at taking away the 2nd batting net from Stroud, and then changing the fitness net into a WKeeping one next week when Groves pops to Medicore.

Thoughts?

I'd get rid of the duplicate nets, the guys receiving them aren't particularly exceptional compared to the rest of your squad - and compared to some of the players you've got who're receiving no nets at all. That'll give you two nets for Moloto. I would sell the 18yo and 19yo players you're not training unless you particularly desperate to keep them for your league games.

Yep, he'll pop to competent batting very quickly. There'll be a large influx of 17yo players like that due to be sold on Tuesday (listed on the market already) you should be able to get yourself a full lineup of decent trainees then. Also keep an eye out for equally cheap older players to fill out your starting lineup with. Happy hunting.

The worthless stamina guys you have will be lucky to score 20-30 with the bat or go at less than 7 an over against most teams.

Don't bother with Rich Lord, has no stamina or consistency and so isn't worth the trouble.

Christie would turn out ok eventually with a lot of work but has no concentration which means he'll underperform massively with the bat. You'll have to give Christie a fielding net combined with batting net(s) (make sure you have 3-5 sports psychologists - these guys help you get concentration and consistency pops during training). With a batting and fielding net his concentration will increase about every 8 weeks (a second batting net won't increase his concentration any quicker, only the first batting net contributes, similarly with fielding).

Try and stick to guys like your spinner there, that have stamina and the relevant concentration/consistency (batsmen need concentration, bowlers need consistency).

Okay, I've had a quick look.

Why are you selling McCarthy? He's your best batsman! Same goes for ignoring Rankin - he looks by far your best WK, despite his non-existent batting!

Training 10 players is pretty brave, and shows you're thinking long-term...but I really don't think it's worth it for that lot. You're going to lose A LOT of games before any of them start to come good.

You're training a lot of mediocre/mediocre players...and that's not a good place to start. How much cash have you got? If possible, I'd recommend trying to get some 17yo comp/comp's and training them instead. If not 17yo, then 18yo - they'd be equivalent to your players trained on a year (with one net), and should be pretty cheap.

Batting. McCarthy, Slabbers and Bogollagama look to be your best. The latter two are definitely trainable - you should consider putting two batting nets on each...unless you can get hold of a young competent or two.

Bowling. That's a trouble area. Lambert should be double-netted, and French looks to be your only other decent bowler. The rest are pretty poor, unfortunately. Summers might be okay, but I suspect most of his BTR comes from his 'keeping.

Wicketkeeping. You've got THREE respectable 'keepers! Rankin is your best WK, but his batting's rubbish. I'd be inclined to keep him and sell Lindani (if you can get anything for him).

In summary, look at just training McCarthy, Slabbert, Boggy and Lambert. Possibly French as well. Rankin as WK, and get rid of Lindani. No need to train WK above respectable at your level.

You should then start replacing your other players - they're very young, but also not very good. For anyone who isn't getting trained, you should look into buying an older player who's competent or above.

Apologies if a lot of the above just isn't feasible - I might be losing touch with the grass roots game!

Oh, forgot to say. It might be worth trying to figure out which of your many many mediocres are high mediocre, and which are low. Compare their wages - assuming they've not been trained much*, that's a good indicator of how high they'll be.

* Wages are only updated once, at the start of each season.

Agree with seeing which are low and which are high mediocre, I'll do it if you don't how to work it out via wages.

Med-med is a perfectly adequate place to start since he's obviously a new team and won't have much cash. Obviously it would still be nice to get better trainees if possible.

I'm not sure about spreading the nets out so thinly, I would only do this if the intention is to sell on most of the players later. These players aren't going to be that great when they're a 'finished' player in however many seasons time, you should be looking at creating 4-5 really top notch players who can compete with anything rather than a team of remarkables with middling stamina and no fielding.

So anyway I would try and sell two-three trainees around now after they pop to competent primary and with the money buy one nice trainee (respectable, high respectable if you can, you want good stamina and secondaries as well - we will all probably have to train stamina up to proficient+ in the future anyway so another two levels of stamina is almost like having another level of primary since it takes 12 weeks to train it) that guy will get the nets left vacant as well (two-three) and you should look to have that trainee in your squad for the long term, he'll be your first gun exquisite+ player in 5-6 seasons. Another option is to sell trainees at the start of next season and buy nice 17yo(s) then, you'll get longer to train them but they'll cost more.

The key thing is to plan for having top notch players in 5-6 seasons. Doesn't matter how you go about it really. A team with a bunch of exquisite type players will beat a team of remarkables. Plus it's difficult to improve a team of remarkables, where as it's easy to improve a team with a bunch of really nice players in it with a few duffers.

As usual, Scaly's making sense. First phase -- train for profit, and use that to get some better trainees in. Then, concentrate on getting a few players up to high levels over the next few seasons, and the rest will fall into place. Hopefully.

Just realised that that was a first post from CricketFanAA -- so, tell us about yourself!

Haha well yes, Rankin was in my original squad, Lindani just popped on Respectable, and I bought Summers in.

If it's not too much trouble, I would be grateful if you did.:)

Ooh ok, nice advice. Makes total sense too. Which players would you recommend selling once they pop to primary. Should I be looking to keep anyone i.e Lambert? Also when I buy the new players, should I stick with 17yo? And which one do you recommend, selling now and buying a decent trainee, or buying new 17yo trainees? Batting or bowling?

Also what training should I use this week?
