Earlier myself, Bugssy and Eyes_Only were chatting about the coming draft and transfers and we all felt that the idea of only keeping 10 players was nearly impossible for us to do espically now that we need two squads (1 Day & 4 Day). For example after completing my transfers with Bug's my squad has 24 players (meaning I need to lose 14 players) However is my not apply to your team but at Kent we have very different teams for the 1 Day matches and 4 Day games. I sat down and worked it all out who would play etc and come up with my best X1's for both the teams, I then compared them to see which players would leave and stright away I could only see 4 players that would be leaving my team for sure, I then thought I then let go of some of my lesser players, who were good in one form and not the other the number rose to 7 (meaning I have 17 players still and need to lose 7 more) So I again looked through my team and there were at least 5 players who played in one team but not the other, however the avg of these players were for example G.Jones 1 Day - 17ish 4 Day - 37ish. So he wouldn't stand a hope in hells chance of getting near my one day team, but he was one of the first names down for my 4 day team. Also I have about 5 bowlers who all have great avg's that come the draft I doubt I would improve on them anyway, And basically I feel we should have a bit more room for the two teams for example say keep 15 players and draft in only 5 new players. The idea of cutting down to 10 players was bought in to reduce the gap between the big teams (NSW & co) and the lesser teams such as Kent, Tas, ND etc however I feel if we do cut down to 10 my team on the whole will be alot weaker next season, whereas teams like NSW have only strengthen their team with signings of players like Lara from myself.

What do others feel about this, do you feel cutting your teams down to 10 players and still staying a team that can win sliverware is possible?

I think that is part of the challenge, cutting down in numbers.

I mean you've just swapped 3 players for 1 player haven't you, so surely that was a tad silly as the rules state you can only keep 10.

But if you want to be able to keep 15 and have only 1 draft pick - I offer Ian Bell for your remaining 5 picks!

You can't change the 10 player rule at this stage as many have planned their trades taking it into account.
Besides, a touring party of 16 players is required to play both forms of the game (although these days the trend seems to be to send some players home and bring others out before the onedayers).

Fair points by you both and as I seem to be out numbered on this issue...Kent have thought about it and as I don't have enough room for the two different teams I have decied that Kent will go for the 4 Day comp next season...So all my One Day players are up for grabs Free Of Charge

Note: You still need me to agree to the deal, as you don't know who's in my 4 Day team and the players I want to keep, other than that I need to get rid of 14 players so bid away guys, if there are no takers then all the players will be put into the draft

I have to agree with these 2 guys Rich...

The main reason to cut the limit down to 10 was to protect the lesser teams from the top teams who could hold on to their top players...

So i think we have to stick with the 10 player rule, and i am with u i will also be targeting the 4 day comp next season....

That's fair enough and I am happy to go with it.

The main point I was trying to make was that we picked this rule before we decided to add the 4 Day game, and now teams need to accomidate the specialist players from both forms of the game, which I feel is'nt possibly as most teams field very differnet teams for the different forms.

Anyway like I said happy to go with the flow and forget I even mentioned it :D

Well i think thats one of the difficulties, but over the long run 10 players and the draft should make the teams fairer. Guess it makes it a challenge to produce a team which is both good at one day and four day. Like if u look at NSW (in real life) they are champions at one day but pretty average at four day. Also, GB can u tell me what competions their will be next season, like is there going to be a seperate four day and one day league or is one gonna be a knock out comp etc??

Rich, I agree with you, but thems the breaks.. you would have thought, say 11 players to keep, just to have a starting XI.

We shall see how this works out anyway, maybe next season we can change things if it doesn't work!
