World XI by ICC Rankings

NZTailender

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Current Test Side (top 5 bats, top bat rated WK, top AR, top 4 bowlers)

1. Rohit Sharma
2. Marnus Labuschagne
3. Kane Williamson
4. Joe Root
5. Steve Smith
6. Quinton de Kock+
7. Jason Holder
8. Ravichandran Ashwin
9. Tim Southee
10. Pat Cummins
11. Josh Hazlewood

Steve Smith the only current player who would make a current XI and World All Time XI while Pat Cummins is very close.

Any predictions how the side will look at end of year?

8 or 9 of the 11 players will stay the same. Only changes will be Jadeja for Holder, Jamieson for Hazlewood (with batting order adjusted), and possibly one of Pant or Rizwan for QDK. Latham and Warner might rise in the batting rankings but I don't think they'll make the top 5.

I wouldn't say Cummins is that close. He still wouldn't make an ATG Australian team. Might (big might) be in the top 25 seamers of all time.

World champs under-represented. Too bad Watling retired

Another couple of years of what he's been doing and he's in the top 10, possibly even top 5 of all time.

I think icc does have a fielding rating. They've either scrapped or hidden it though
Can't imagine it would be worth anything, unless it's somehow analysing difficulty and outcome of every instance a fielder touches the ball . Probably be just counting catches

Line and Length

International Coach
I tried something similar with the ICC rankings for ODIs and came up with this:

R.Sharma
J.Bairstow +
Babar Azam
V.Kohli
R.Taylor
Shakib Al Hasan
Mohammad Nabi
C.Woakes
J.Hazelwood
T.Boult
Mujeeb Ur Rahman

I was tempted to leave out Mujeeb and have Matt Henry batting at 9.
