No Roach in the squad for the Australia series.
I hope this is a conditions based decision. He deserves a decent send off and a coaching role of some kind. Not a damp squib, being left out of a squad without fanfare. He has served us well, always showed up when called.

I'm actually reasonably positive about the test squad though, which makes a nice change. Our batting is woeful, so at least they are trying something out by selecting King, bringing back Shai, calling up Anderson. It's worth a go. It's nice to see some innovation in our test match thinking.

I'm not sure Carty deserved to be there really, especially given the runs Da Silva put up. But Sammy rates him and he does appear in good form on the tour of the UK.

I have two possible lineups from that, depending on how many seam bowlers we need, as well as the batting depth required...

Option 1 - 7 batsmen, 4 bowlers and Chase

Brathwaite
Campbell/Louis
Anderson/Carty
King
Hope
Roston Chase (Captain)
Imlach (WK)
Warrican (Vice Captain)
Alzarri/Phillip/Layne
Shamar
Seales

Option 2 - seam bowling all-rounder, more depth, Hope keeps

Brathwaite
Campbell/Louis
Anderson/Carty
King
Hope (WK)
Chase (Captain)
Greaves
Warrican (Vice Captain)
Alzarri/Phillip/Layne
Shamar
Seales

roston with a 5fer and century (admittedly versus CCC) has to be a shoe in for selection. doubt he'd be playing 4 day if he hadn't had a chat with Sammy about coming back.

watched some of the winwards-leewards over the past couple of days and alzarri needs binning from the red ball set up for the WI. bowling like an absolute drain.
Bro came back and is now our skipper. Making runs and taking wickets against the ****ing CCC!!!

Didn't be retire from international cricket? Which in itself was ridiculous
Yes, this is true. I think he retired from all international cricket. But, with coach Sammy around, bro thought that he might be in contention.

John Campbell made runs and he's back. Shai with an impressive ODI record gets another shot. Brandon King's time is long overdued. KC made internation runs...and Kevlon's probably in the squad to run water and gain some sort of exposure to the pinnacle of the game.

Good to see Dindyal bat properly in the Academy match. When I saw him for the first time in under 15 cricket, I thought he was the new Sarwan. But so far his shot selection in professional cricket has been abysmal. Hopefully today is the start of something.

Also, I'm now officially on the Nathan Edward train. Left arm swing, moves it both ways at will at around 80- 82 mph and is a more than decent lower order batsman. I wouldn't be surprised if he is playing for West Indies within the next 12 to 18 months.

The fact they dropped Jagessar to bring in Dindyal was vindicated, in a way.

I have been on the Nathan Edwards train since last CPL. Jediah Blades seems to be preferred by Sammy…but Nathan is above him

The white ball sides definitely need a left arm seam option with the new ball, as our current set up is not working. I agree Edwards is better, but perhaps let him develop for another year and try Blades in the short term.

I’m all for this. Especially with the new ICC rule with the balls. A left-arm pacer is gonna be huge for us.

Let Edward’s continue to develop and slowly bring him in the senior team.
