Trescothick has never been a prolific player at domestic level...his was a selection based on potential..and for those who hadnt followed Tresco from his youth cricket through to county seconds it was a bit of a shock to see him picked for england...as it turned out, he generally has been a major success

What about 1st time he was picked then?
The first time he was picked he had made one decent score in his entire career - because there was the customary post-World Cup "must look to the future" stuff bandied-about, the selectors naturally had to do something in that way. So they placed far too much emphasis on this one innings and ignored a generally very poor career. They paid the price. Or rather, those who made the call for "youth" paid the price. Not to mention poor Read himself, who was palpably out of his depth and was made to look on a couple of occasions rather foolish.

Well then, I guess you fall into the pessimist category. What can I say? I disagree.

I've named 26 guys there. If you can't come up with 5-6 guys out of that lot...
Um I can name 6 guys out of that lot.

Tuffey, Bond, Mills, Oram, Vettori, Cairns.

Good enough?

To say NZ have 25 bowlers capable of the international level is ludricrious. Australia aren't even that good.

Trescothick has not batted anywhere near as well as his success would suggest for most of his Test-series.
