umm no.....just because they managed to pull of a draw against an under strength aussie side in conditions that suited them more than australia or that they beat a rather inconsistent pakistan side in similarly batter friendly doesnt mean that they can beat SA, NZ or england at home. they are yet to show that they can bat in bowler friendly conditions and the last time they went to new zealand they completely disgraced themselves.
They can beat SA, NZ and England at home. They have a fair shout. You can't dismiss their chances when batsmen like Dravid, Tendulkar and Sehwag have been performing overseas as well as they have.

with an average of 10?
You must be talking about the tests.....was his average really ten? In th One-dayers he scored two tons both in lost causes where the rest of the team failed in the conditions. Even in Headingly last year our we batted well.

I still fail to understand how based on six Tests you're saying we can beat any country anywhere right now.
Not just on these six tests, in recent times we've been winning overseas tests, something which started only after Sourav Ganguly took over. We won in headingly and in the West Indies, and those were initial indicators that we're getting there. Then when we performed in Australia, we showed that now we can't be taken lightly anymore, meaning we now can beat other teams in their backyard and are a different side. We're still getting there and the improvement will continue, but I think we've reached a level where we're in with an even chance outside Asia.

Against England in England right now, it won't be that easy mate.

See, we're not the only ones improving and the others stagnant.
I never said England were stagnant.....I never said it will be a walkover.....I never said India are World Champions.....

1)we're talking about india winning tests overseas not ODIs....the 2 are not the same!!
2) you seem to be at a misconception that headingly is always a seamer's paradise when it clearly isnt.....it depends on the conditions.

I think even 'can' is a strong word. 'Might' would be more suitable.

We won at Headingly last time...;)

er.... I know.

Still, don't worry about it. It got your 'impressively unnecessary and inane post count' up by another one.

(mine stands at 7779)

Why does post count matter so much anyway? If it does to you so much then anyway like you pointed out you have 7779. So, whatever, sorry for not reading your post clearly and making a useless post, or umm 'getting my post count up'.(that's one more....)

Then what do you mean - that you don't really think they can and you're not saying they can't?
Simple. It's difficult to say whether we can or can't.

Why should it be difficult to say whether we can or we can't! Or at least you should think something is more probable. Don't you have any idea what we're capable of?

Based on current form, we might just win a Test series outside Asia, if we play one right now.

But based on various other factors, we are not in a position to say that we can win one with certainty.

If you say we might, then it means you think there's a chance and we can. Or are you saying we might win by fluke. Self Contadiction here.

Yes I know what we are capable of. On our day we can beat any side.

But we are also capable of being the most inconsistent side in International Cricket.

We have a chance, but not one based on which we can say with absolute certainty that we can win.

As I said in the previous post, we are was too inconsistent to say for sure that we can win.

And this debate was always centred around current form, talentwise even previous sides could've won. Are you like doubting the talent of this team?
