Yeah.... But not the best. His record against Pakistan is very good, but for comparison; Gavaskar for instance has a better record against Pakistan.Viv has a more than acceptable record vs Pakistan.

Fair point so maybe Sunil vs Waqar?Yeah.... But not the best. His record against Pakistan is very good, but for comparison; Gavaskar for instance has a better record against Pakistan.
Good match up, though I voted for peak Viv. Had Imran been an option, I would had voted Gavaskar.Fair point so maybe Sunil vs Waqar?
Honestly and using players who never faced each other:If you are a captain and sending out a batsmen out to effectively take down the below bowlers who are bowling well in their respective spells in suitable conditions, which worldclass or ATG level batsman, not Bradman, would you send out to face each one? Do not pick a selection that has actually faced them though in their respective primes.
Bowlers:
Ambrose
Warne
Wasim
Peak Jeff Thomson
Peak Waqar
Jimmy Anderson
Ashwin
We agree for a change. I will say this though, that if Tommo faced Lara on say the ARG he'd get murdered. But that's not what you asked, so I'll show myself out....Definitely not Thommo.
His sixes against Brett Lee at peak speed in the 2003 WC were amazingPeople forget that Aravinda played fastest crop of bowlers ever to come out in cricket. No one managed to hit him on the helmet. (OK, Kumble did, but that was off a top edge). Man was such a beast against short stuff. Peak Aravinda in 88-89 era against peak Thomson would be fun to watch.
And the fun thing was Aravinda was 37, and just before his retirement managed that feat, even with slowed reflexes. Just think of what he could have done with reflexes at peak. His sixes against Brett Lee at peak speed in the 2003 WC were amazing
I'm gonna take Gooch, Tendy and Crowe out as it's definitely more fun selecting hypothetical matchups.Gooch - Ambrose
Tendulkar - Warne
Crowe - Wasim
Kohli - Thomson
Greenidge - Anderson
Sangakkara - Waqar
Miandad - Ashwin
DeVilliers is perfect to combat Thommo. He is fearless against pace.I'm gonna take Gooch, Tendy and Crowe out as it's definitely more fun selecting hypothetical matchups.
De Villiers - Ambrose
Gavaskar - Warne
Sobers - Wasim
Ashwin claims Sehwag was carting him around in the practice sessions. Famously claimed "off spinners are nor bowlers"Honestly and using players who never faced each other:
Ashwin: Sehwag
A man of taste.Ashwin claims Sehwag was carting him around in the practice sessions. Famously claimed "off spinners are nor bowlers"
