What would Bradman average if he played in a typical (i.e. neither batsman or bowler favored) period of the modern era (1970 - current)?

Considering Viv is from a semi professional era and might have been one of the few good players in a sea of crap, and likely just played against posh plumbers, farmers and nepobabies. What do you think he would average if he played his cricket in the modern era? and not the flat 2010-2015 section, but the spicy 2018-2025 period. Let's say he plays three for the West Indies and plays every Test match.

I think he will average over 40 but below like 44, would be regarded as one of the best in the business but not quite Fab four level. Not all that close.

Viv averaged 50 vs pacers like Lillee, imran, hadlee and wills. And spinners like bedi chandra and qadir. Sure he would do well vs bumrah, Cummins rabada and ashwin

It wasn't necessarily easy to bat on the spin rolled pitches in the Caribbean back in the day, although usually easier against non real quick bowling compared to with what the home team used to churn out. That said, as pointed out above, its not like he didn't have to face some high class attacks too.

Tbh given the current state of the West Indies would he want to play in the test format? Maybe he heads to Somerset as a young player and qualifies for England.

That’s really harsh. Braithwaite has devoted his entire career to the Windies test cricket team. In fact completely bucking the trend, he’s never even played a T20 in his entire career. Whatever his shortcomings as a player, this should be celebrated for his dedication to Windies test cricket, in a time where its been needed most of all.

To be fair, I think he'd love to go the franchise Cricket and T20 route to make a bag but he just doesn't have the skillset for it and never quite managed to develop it, at the end, Test Cricket is likely the only thing he has that guarantees a decent living.
