What to do about tour matches

i realise 14 tests is a lot by modern australian fast bowling standards and playing in australia, england and south africa is all that matters for the simple working australian man. he' done well too, very well. i hope he stays fit.

i even realise 14 tests is basically an 18 year test career for new zealand.

but it's basically the size of sachin tendulkar and about as effective an argument as james anderson away from a cloud.

naturally this means vernon philander was the best bowler to ever exist back when he started his run and i'm sure if i go back through cw history i won't find frothing australian fans hotly debating his merits relative to whatever flavour of the month they've wheeled out at all.

i enjoy the odd recreational class A drug as well, and for steve especially i understand living in australia pushes you towards such things, but it isn't doing much good for your internet posting (something we can all agree is the most widely played and valued sport in the disgusting modern era) and james is very anti-drugs on the forum so i think we should all respect his wishes and abstain from posting under the influence outside of match threads.
Am I the only one who knows not to taken Stephen's opinions on Australian fast bowlers seriously?

this thread was going fine until that Australia-hater crew showed up with their autistic screeching, if we could all go back to objective intelligent discussion in my thread about this deplorable act of indisputable cheating, the worst since Bodyline, then that would be greeeeeeat

I mean this is the guy who thought Jackson Bird would have been England's spearhead in 2015 if he was from there. I don't know if these guys responding to him are dumb or deliberately using it to fuel their "damn ****y Australians, hate them so much" agenda

No way Pat Cummins is a better bowler than Shane Bond. I'd even rate Boult higher than him.
I'd rate Bond as better than Cummins but it's probable that Cummins will end up being rated much higher when his career is done.

But rhetorically saying that Cummins sounded better than saying anything NZ had produced since the 80s was better than saying he was better than anything produced for the last 8 years.

As for Boult, don't be ridiculous.

Boult was ok for a year or so there when he had favourable conditions. I think the difference between him and Cummins is pretty small in bowler-friendly conditions but on a flatter deck Cummins is much, much better,

TIL I learned that a bowler averaging 24 can't possibly be as good as one averaging 28 despite arguably playing in much tougher conditions.
TIL that a bowler who's taken 200 wickets can't possibly be as good as one who's taken 50 wickets.

Think Cummins will end up being better Bond/Boult though. Problem is it's hard to argue he's better now, though.

Quality is independent of contextless wickets taken. Otherwise Zaheer > Davidson

You can watch them and make a judgement if you want. Besides only Stephen is saying he's definitely better. I'm saying it's stupid proclaiming he's definitely worse when there's nothing to suggest so.

Boult and Bond shouldn't be spoken of as though they are the same standard though (not saying that you're definitely doing this). Bond was far better,

I do find it amusing that my sledging of Flem274 after his drivel post earlier has been taken so literally.

I mean I didn't intend on turning this into a Cummins vs Boult/Bond thread, but if I was being serious I'd say Bond > Cummins > Boult.

Out of interest, Cummins is now only 4 tests behind Bond.

Bond's injuries are such a shame. It'd have been great to see him have a full career. Pattinson is in the same boat too. Simon Jones is another who had their career curtailed prematurely by injury - was the most important bowler England had in 2005.

Pakistan just picked their 'A' Team for Australia's only match in UAE, and it does not include a single specialist spin bowler. A blatant tactic to rob the touring side of practice ahead of the Test series where they are expected to be facing a spin-heavy attack.
Interestingly enough in Aus' first innings of this tour match the part time spinner Iftikhar Ahmed (51 career wickets in 56 matches) has bowled 23 overs out of 60. Possibly a bit of a disconnect between the evil plans of the PCB and the Pak A captain. Either way have to applaud Asad Shafiq (Pak A captain) by ignoring said evil plans and just doing what was best for the game.
