Impressive average of 40.xy in 67 tests in a very hard era for batting.

One of the best player of spin bowling, with few all timer knocks on some rank turners.

An underachiever who put everything together for a couple of years to have an excellent purple patch in an otherwise underwhelming career. Overall, a decent batsman.

Strictly decent. Could've been a great, which is a pretty big jump/assumption from "strictly decent", but all the talent in the world means nothing without the bloodymindedness required to make something of it. Rohit showed it occasionally at home but was hopelessly cavalier on too many other occasions.

The burden of Rohit? About ten kilos I reckon from looking at him.

With distance of not being an Indian fan, you get to appreciate players like Rohit. When his day, one you want to watch in any format. I was always amazed it took so long for him to get into the test side but guess there was some competition back then.

The solution was simple, play Rohit at home and Rahane away. Kohli and the management never figured it out.

He'll be slightly underrated as an opener simply because of how late and relatively short his stint was.

Is it though? The true classy guys are finding ways to average 50+, that Rohit was nowhere near that probably highlights his limitations. You can say he's a good player of spin, but he never had to face some of the best.

Okayish for me.
