The big news out of the camp today was that a friendly match had been scheduled against Australia in Melbourne, Captain Donald Bradman told the media this earlier today - "I am looking foward to this match as are the rest of the boys, It should be great for the boys to have their first hitout together"
Manager Nick Borcich picked the side to take on Australia later that day:
1. EJ Barlow
2. SJ McCabe
3. *DG Bradman
4. CH Lloyd
5. PA De Silva
6. M Azharuddin
7. IT Botham
8. +APE Knott
9. SK Warne
10. DK Lillee
11. J Garner
Nick commented on how this was probably the full strength side, and that he will give every player a chance in future friendlies.
The Australian XI was also named for the friendly:
1. JL Langer
2. ML Hayden
3. *RT Ponting
4. DR Martyn
5. MJ Clarke
6. SM Katich
7. +AC Gilchrist
8. B Lee
9. GD McGrath

Some real standout performances there, Bradman - two magnificent hundreds, Garner - some lovely pace bowling, Barlow with some runs, Lloyd and Azharuddin also making some runs. Nice win, should inject some confidence.

A good solid performance by the boys there, nice to see Hutton score some runs and Murali take some wickets after a poor series against Greater Northern CC, by their standards. Also a very good game by Faulkner who is pushing very hard for a spot away from home. We need to keep working on our batting as that 2nd Innings collapse isn't good enough.
Also would like to thanks the Western Vikings for their hospitality and holding the game for us.

Thrilling match that went down to the wire. Azharuddin batted well, As did Bradman and Lloyd. McCabe finally making some runs was pleasing and the bowlers shared the load nicely. Nice performance

Yeah well played Hoggy. Johnston impressed me, getting MOTM after a late call up. Inzi and Dujon batted very well as did Barrington who managed to salvage a draw for us after a top order collapse. Dissapointed with my top order in both innings but it was our first hit out of the season so overall pretty happy with the result.
