Week 9: Acapulco [Hurtado], Dubai [Drake], Copenhagen [Buur], Meknes [Jerez]

SirBloody Idiot

Cricketer Of The Year
Fine for both of you.

Will post the final entry lists this arvo, but Copenhagen already looks like an absolute stinker with Li, Bradley and Vollan out. Leaves Maxum as fourth seed.

Awesome, that should mean that Bowenburg is one of the top 8 seeds :)

Bre started strongly with a 6-1, 7-5 trouncing of Thursfield's compatriot Ryan Miller, but did it tougher against the sixth seed as he came from 2-4 down in the third to win 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.

Mat Mitchell has won qualification to the inaugural tournament in Copenhagen as he came from a set down to beat Croatia's Jiri Gross. It was tough right through as Mitchell was taken to three sets on two occasions and deep into a second in his first round, but had enough in the tank to snatch a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win to move to the main draw.

Randy Banks, who came from 2-6 down in the first round against Gunnar Valsson, will not be joining him as he was beaten comfortably by James O'Raherty in the qualifying round 6-4, 6-3. Rick Langley fell first up to eventual qualifier Taavi Aleksejev in a brave 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 performance.

Big chance here for Maxum at copenhagen with so many 'names' dropping out...froffing.
Mate are you still happy to play doubles this week in a week where you could make a singles sem-eye final?

If not I totally understand bro and we will partner up next tourny. It's totally your call Max.

Won't post the full draw atm, but here are the CWLand matchups for the main level tournaments:

Dubai
Spas DELEV vs. Heath DAVIS (winner plays HALL/BERG)
Ross ONWYE vs. 6-Jefferson DRAKE (winner plays NATALE/THORPE)
WC-David CHAMPION vs. 8-Randy SMELTZ (winner plays ZEMAN/AKSU)
Q-Matt BRE vs. Morgan CARTER (winner plays BRDAR/SAE-UL)
Jojo MUSTARD vs. Q-Rod BOSNAR (winner plays DOH/ŠPIDLÁ)

Some pretty stinker draws there for all involved.

Acapulco
1-Sven OXENSTIERNA vs. Q-Radaslaw MARZEC (winner plays CORDIERO/JAMES)

Ox has a pretty comfortable draw until a tricky-ish match against Hurtado in the quarters and any one of Pascaul, Genov or Machado in the semis.

Copenhagen
Q-Mat MITCHELL vs. 4-Jarkko MAXUM (winner plays HEUG/REITER)
Rob BOWENBURG vs. 2-Almen BENAGLIO (winner plays BUUR/TOBIN)

Disappointing for both CWLanders to start against each other, but the winner has a good shot at the semi finals with only Petr Brozik in their way. He's been good this season, but is struggling with a knee injury and could be a chance of retiring against the Austrian. Bowenburg draws a tough match first up against Benaglio, but he's just back from injury and in ordinary form so if there was every a chance for a win this is it. He showed good form last week with a win over Orlov anyway, who is arguably a stronger player at this point. It doesn't get much easier with Kasper Buur likely in the second who is in good touch but fresh off three weeks of clay tennis and might find the transition hard home country or not.

If you've got any other questions about the respective draws, just ask.

Really need a win over Davis after a poor showing since the Open. Get the climb up the rankings back on track.

Well, a win over you is gonna do me no good. If I win, I need to beat Hall (or, very unlikely Berg) to gain anything.
