Sarajevo Challenger II
Final - Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina
Singles

  • David Jones came unstuck agains "Gross Croat" Jiri Gross in the final at Sarajevo. The first set was closely fought with a 6 deuces, a total of 12 break points but no breaks in serve. However, the tie break was dominated by Gross who fired down 3 aces and attacked Jones' serve successfully. The second set was also close, but Jones took an early break at the first opportunity after an unfortunate double fault from Gross after some disruption in the crowd. The comeback of Gross was not popular with the local crowd who started booing when Gross won points. However, this seemed to spur Gross onto higher standards and he broke Jones at the 2nd opportunity to 15. With the momentum with Gross, it was no surprise when he broke again and held on to win the title 7 - 6 (7 - 0), 6 - 4.

  • Seeded players out: David Jones (8, AUS)
