KARNATAKA BEAT KENT TO BECOME VB CUP CHAMPS OF THE SEASON
All was set for the grand finals with two very strong teams contesting it.It was a bright sunny day.Both Kent and Karnataka had already won the one day and four day cup respectively in their division.So it was going to be a very interesting match.
Karnataka won the toss and put the opposition in.Though it was sunny the pitch had some juice for the fast bowlers.G Richards and MA Khan were the Karnataka bowlers and DJ Marsh and A Flower were going to face them.Kent started nervously and lost 2 wickets for 8 runs.Then J Moss trapped B Allen in front of the wicket and the score was 3/19.The wicket of B Allen spured the Karnataka players and after that they never looked back.Kent lost wickects at regular interval and only N Smith got 46*.Kent got a total of 8/116 from their 25 overs.MA Khan(3/24) and J Moss(2/20) were the pick of the bowlers.
It was a in between target not very less and not very much either.With the batting depth which Karnataka had it was not a big total.Karnataka started the run chase and lost AV Kale early when the score was 20.But after that N Round and N Knight batted very well and Karnataka got past the Kent total in just 17 overs.N Round made 63 of 57 balls and N Knight made40 of 36 balls and Karnataka won by 9 wickets.It was a convincing win.
In the interview after the match the Karnataka manager Aditya said "As a said earlier if we get B Allen cheaply we will have a good chance.J Moss got B Allen early and the Kent batting fell apart.It was a great performance by the players.It has been a great season by us and we a quite confident of the same performance in the next season."
