I hate those massive scores too, but to be fair, 111 was successfully defended overnight. Just watched the replay and it was one of the more engrossing limited-overs games I've seen in a while.

I don't invest any analysis in stuff like this...can someone summarize the point of this and why we're investing money and time into it?

This looks to be a similar deal to the relationship Cricket Victoria & Cricket NSW have with two of the current MLC teams, I think the Unicorns & Freedom.

If the comp and the team makes money then NZC also makes money.
OK, so it's a revenue source we can depend on, and is a priority above anything else that exists in NZC's business model?

I honestly don't know, I'm just trying to get a sense without NZC's bias on why it is something they clearly have placed prominence on.

Reading through this, it actually sounds like more than a development-type strategic deal that CV & CNSW already have with SFU & WF. This sounds like NZC is actually stumping up a bit of cash for this as well as consulting on infrastructure & even turf prep. That'll be interesting.

Of course, this isn't NZC's first foray into American cricket. To this day, it's still mentioned on NZC's Wikipedia page.

OK, so it's opportunities for personnel (support staff, coaching, management) as well as young players probably, and it's also another, and unique, revenue stream. I'm not excited by it, but I reckon I get it now

I like to think that someone had a chat with Germon to pick his brain about what Cricket NSW gets from their partnership with Washington Freedom to see what it's all about.
