He was, though Cardus probably overrated him even by then standards, as I don't think he ever was rated better than Fred "The Demon" Spofforth. What he was rated as was the Best English pacer till came Larwood; and some continued to do so.

Pretty much. Cardus also had Johnny Tyldesly in his shortlist for the 6 spots, but no Hammond, Headley or Sutcliffe.

Richardson's FC stats are too good. Took 2100+ wickets at 5.78 wickets per match, which is only second to Freeman among bowlers with 2000+ wickets. Has 72 ten wickets in a match, only 4 bowlers (all spinners) I believe have more.

Also Has only 1 less 10 wickets in a match in international cricket than Qadir.
