Thoughts on the OD sim?

i dont like this part of the sim, the 4d version seems pretty good but the OD seems a little random.

eg - colts were bowled out in 35 overs in the recent game - now maybe if i had a weak batting lineup that might happen but my top 6 all have averages well over 40 - thats like the Australian team getting rolled over in 35 overs. now once and i would be fine, but this is the 2nd time in 3 rounds. Hampshire and Karna are good teams granted, but my teams not much worse on paper, if any.

also, experience is supposed to be important, now i dont have the exact stats, but just about my 2 worst players in OD so far are Klusener and Sharath, both haven't scored that many runs and haven't been consistant - klusener's highest scores (including friedlies are 29, 26 and 25) sharath - not much better

and the results seem to be abit random in general as well.

thats just a couple of thoughts i was wondering what others thought?

Totally Agreed

I can't agree with these sentiments anymore. Although this has been discussed a lot... I think it's time to make a decision on it now... whilst it won't take effect till next season we have given this sim enough time and seen it's flaws and should be able to get starting on building the teams next year.

These outbursts seem to always come from managers whose sides aren't performing as well as they expected, and also seem to be quite isolated to me...

look at my side on paper and tell me why im getting bowled out in 35 overs... and getting beleted all over the park by nearly every side

yeah, but my inexperienced players are playing better than my experenced players.... Klusener and Sharath are both failing miserably

I haven't really had anything to cry about with the new sim, mainly because my team hasn't lost yet.

However my main hmmm, is the way teams chase and go about batting in general. Teams chasing 200 nearly always do it at 5 runs per over, probably takings risks along the way. Often you look at scorecards and see teams lose games they should've won when they need maybe 30 of the last 10 overs. Usually when chasing 200 teams go about at 4 an over, but not the way they have on WCC sim.

The OD sim is much better than the vc4 that we used to run the matches on. It would be predictable and not much fun if the top sides always beat the bottom sides. All sides go through bad runs and this is no different. In the OD camp I have MAtt Hayden averaging 16 but he had a crap season last time with vc4 as well. On the other hand I've got a couple of guys performing above expectations. It's all the luck of the draw.

It may be possible to tweak some things at the end of the season to make it better I suppose. we'll have a better view of it then.

i must say im not really impressed either..

my team does have experience in it unlike marc quoted.. and it was a bit suprising to see some vary weird results over the past few weeks.. eg my game against Colts.. i mean they are a pretty good team and i would expect a closer game than that...

Don't think you can sweep it under the carpet Marc, as much as I'm sure you'd like to. That saying, you still haven't thought up a reply to my previous post on the Sim, get typing! Or do you admit defeat?

I think we have a fair range of managers. I'm 3rd in Div 5 OD and until I see the 4D table I'll expect I'm leading because of results. And I'm hardly a supporter. Most of my players who have loads of experiance haven't performed anywhere near their potential either.

Is it just me or are results on this sim really random?
Not just you...

I've been unable to get past 200 many times this season, despite being in 2nd place in the table, and yet when the pressure really is on I win by reaching 200andsomething for 4 in just 38 overs to win...if my team can't pass 200 regularly despite having a load of people with 40-mid 30 averages then why can they suddenly pull it out of the hat chasing, against a decent attack, when they can't against the weak ones?
