Yeah MacDonald another contender, he had a crappy average but I still hear nothing but admiration for his ability

Teuton

International Captain
Though he took a little over 100 wickets, Ryan Harris deserves to be in the list. Potential ATG bowler destroyed by injuries.
Harris was a bit different, more a late bloomer than injury affected great imho.

He was a mediocre first class player until his late 20s before having a couple of good FC years (including a switch to Queensland and the fast bowler friendly Gabba), then earning a spot in the Test team at the age of 30 where he showed his peak form before succumbing to said injuries in his mid 30's which would never be unexpected.

Tom Flint

International Regular
Difficult to say... he was a little bit of a late bloomer, and in the end it was his decision to go kolpak. With all the SA injuries he would have been in the SA team pretty much consistently since.
What are the averages like of the ones mentioned before...abbotts is 22 although i know he played only played 11 tests. I'd say he would have gone on to take more wickets at a better average than fanie.
Also abbott going kolpak has probably saved morkels international career.

Not with the current injuries... Olivier would not have gotten a chance and probably not Phehlukwayo. Only thing that keeps Abbott/Morkel out of the team is Steyns return and/or playing the extra batsmen.
