How many players have achieved this feat in the history of the game?

Who was the most recent player to enter this club?

Even today you still have like 10-15 guys hitting the 1000+ run mark in the County Championship. And several more worldwide.

32 at one point. Before one-day cricket every county used to play every other county home and away, and that's not including all the tour matches, friendlies, gentlemen v players, etc. Denis Compton has the record for most runs in one season - 3,816 runs in 50 innings.

After the division split they went back to playing home and away, so there's still 16 matches. Last season (2016) there were 16 players making four figures in division one and 13 in division two.

Damn! Back in the days, those guys used to play a lot of cricket.

It's a rare feat for our players here in the Caribbean.

You can get 1000 averaging low 40s, sometimes 30s. Not really a feat, haven't Sanga and Ballance already done it?

David Green, in 1965 or thereabouts, managed more than 2,000 in the summer with a high score of just 85

Some counties played 32 county matches in some seasons, but I don't think there were any seasons where all the counties did. 1960-62 had about the most games, with counties playing either 28 or 32 games (and positions decided by average points per game).

Not that I ever doubted you Andrew, but I did look that up out of curiosity, and of course you're right - remarkable really - in 1961 Yorkshire played 39 First Class matches altogether, and Jimmy Binks played in every single one of them

Going back to the original question, about 1400 players have scored 1000+ runs in an English first-class season at least once, including a dozen or so players who did so for the first time in 2016.
