Fixtures for the #StumpedCWC have been drafted!

We have one bot in our league to round out the numbers. Should be fun!

JOJOXI

International Vice-Captain
I can ask the Stumped admins and see what they say. Do you have a team already?
I haven't got a team yet although played FTP in the past presuming its similarish in nature. No worries if I'm not able to join but let me know if it there is a process to join now its started wasn't sure if it was setup so you could take over a bot side at any point but like in FTP when sides were under bots they were awful so no advantage in joining late.

CricketWeb Championships Season 1 - Review!

The Inaugural CW Stumped Championships ended with pre-season favorites ZCC holding the trophy. They swept through the group stages with a perfect 10-0 record, before picking up a 72-run win over Winton CC in the final. A dominant performance for a side who haven't had much to cheer about otherwise, as they face relegation from EurAfrica SOD and T20 Div 1.
Best Performance: The 72-run win the final. Sent in to bat first on a relatively flat deck, ZCC piled on 283/6 in their 50 overs. 21 year old opener Shahbaz Furqan top scored with 107 off 147 balls, veteran middle-order bat Inder Parvin hit 72 off 79, and the lower order added the final flourish with 84 runs in the final 10 overs. A 55 run opening partnership set the platform for Winton CC, and a 80 run 6th wicket partnership threatened to steal the game for them, but ZCC's bowler struck at regular intervals to shut down the chase. RFM swing bowler Bikswing Nouding finished with 4/48, and South African national team LFM prospect Chung Yiu with 3/30, as WCC were bowled out for 211 in the 45th over. A solid all-round performance from the best side in the tournament.

While the struggling Div 1 EurAfrican side will no doubt celebrate this historic moment, the real story of this tournament is of @JOJOXI's Winton CC. A late entry into the tournament, the youngest side in the league showed remarkable growth as the competition progressed, picking up wins over Jan CC, Dynamo Morpork and FHK on their way to a spot in the final. They only barely managed to edge out Dynamo and Jan CC due to their superior NRR, with all three sides picking up 5 wins a piece - a testament to how tight the competition was. They went down in the final, but will no doubt be satisfied with such an impressive showing.
Best Performance: Their 78 run win over Dynamo Morpork in Round 4. At that point there were 1-2 in the CWC, with the 1 win being over bottom-ranked Honest Hunks, and they had also lost a pre-tournament friendly to the Dynamos. Dynamo were the more experienced team, and after electing to bowl first on home turf had WCC wobbling at 48/3. In difficult batting conditions opener Nauman Sheikh (56) and middle-order bat Brendan Studsor (84) rebuilt. They added 115 runs for the 4th wicket, after which allrounder Dani Potgieter chipped in with a useful 34. A late order collapse saw them bowled out in the 45th over for 225. This would turn out to be plenty, as Seamers Tanvir Ashraf (6.2-1-29-3) and Dani Potgieter (8-2-15-3) then tore through Dynamo's batting, as the hosts were bowled out for 147. This win certified Winton CC as a serious contender, with all of Jojo's new signings performing admirably right away.

@Magrat Garlick's Dynamo Morpork finished in a respectable 3rd place, but will rue a missed opportunity to play in the final. They were the only side to lose a game to the Honest Hunks in the whole tournament, going down to the young team by 4 wickets in the 3rd round. That was a result that would ultimately prove to be decisive. They went 1-1 with Winton and Jan CC, but blanked long-time rivals FHK 2-0.
Best Performance: It's hard to pick between Dynamo's two wins over FHK, both of which were extremely impressive in different ways. On the sticky dog that is the Treacle Mine road, the Dynamos bowled out FHK for 119. No FHK batsman scored more than 23, and only 4 got into double digits. However the pitch seemed to ease out when it came Dynamo's turn to bat. They lost an early wicket, but Shingirai Msomi (75* off 84 balls) finished the game off 9 wickets and half the innings to spare. In the away leg, playing on the dustbowl that is the 5DNOL pitch, their seamers responded superbly to the challenge of bowling first. Moon, Acnell and Mason took 9 wickets between them, restricting FHK to just 203. A wobbly start to the chase saw the Dynamos on 97/4 at the start of the 26th over, but skipper Daniel Rowan ensure there would be no more hiccups, hitting 85* off 74 to steer his side home with nearly 10 overs to spare.

@jan's Jan CC finished in 4th place, despite being a pre-tournament favourite. They ended up fielding second-string XIs throughout their CWC games, saving their best players for the demands of EurAfrica Div 1. They might have finished higher if not for a couple narrow losses - they lost by 1 wicket to Dynamo Morpork and by 18 runs to FHK. Overall their results followed a consistent pattern - they won at home and lost away to FHK and Dynamo Morpork, but lost at home and won away to Winton CC. A decent effort all considering.
Best Performance: Due to a quirk in the schedule, the two JCC vs WCC games were scheduled within 4 days of each other. The first leg was played at Winton's home ground, where the pitch was green and fast. After electing to bat first Jan CC were bowled out for just 161. Captain/keeper Lamar Novak and veteran Anesu Christoffel both chipped in with 40s, but no other batter crossed 16, with Dani Potgieter taking 4/23 for the hosts. In reply, Jan's CC's bowling attack put in an outstanding performance of their own, dismissing Winton CC for just 121 in 44 overs. Club veteran and former SA T20I medium pacer Amos Lunderman took 4/21, and there were wickets for former SA wristpinner Eric Merry (2/24 in 10) and fast bowler Nilas Buben (2/28 in 10). It was a big win for Jan CC, but slightly forgotten thanks to Winton's 101 run win in the rematch.

FHK faced the limitations of their home-grown approach during this tournament, starting strong with 3 consecutive wins, but ending with only 4 wins overall. A reliance on locally recruited youth meant that they were overtaken by the likes of Winton CC, who were able to recruit talent off the transfer marker to improve their side. A tough season for young American-based team, but they'll be satisfied knowing they were able to remain competitive for most of their games.
Best Performance: FHK's 18 run win over Jan CC. In hindsight, it might be tempting to rank their 5 wicket win over eventual-finalists Winton CC above this. But the win over WCC came before WCC beat Dynamo, so at the time it was the expected result, while the win over Jan CC came early on when JCC were still favourites. It was much more dramatic match as well. Opting to bat first on a dry, hard deck, FHK scored 256/8 in their 50 overs. Openers Qasim Abdullah (who hit a career best 79 off 84) and Tony Chung (55 off 110) laid the platform with a 135 run opening partnership. JCC were then reduced to 59/4, and then 136/6 in the 34th over. But they had stacked their 'engine room' with plenty of batting, and with 3 overs left in the chase they needed only 19 more to win with 3 wickets in hand! That's when Michael Spavor dragged a win out of the jaws of defeat, taking a hattrick 1st 3 balls of the 48th over to bowl JCC out! A remarkable win for FHK, and a definite highlight of their tournament.

And lastly @honestbharani's Honest Hunks, who finished in last place with the lone win over Dynamo Morpork. The side showed little progress as the tournament wore on, and their margin of defeat increased with each game. However their games were all played in good spirit, and one hopes their manager can find some time to dedicate to the side before the next CWC. All they need to do is tinker the strategies a bit, put in some training programs, and sign some new talent, and they could be a force to be reckoned with.
Best Performance: Obviously their only win of the tournament, against Dynamo Morpork in Round 3. On a decent batting pitch Hunks allrounder Nalin Mittur took 4/12 in 4 overs to trigger a batting collapse from the Dynamos, who slipped from 102/4 to 161 all out. Mittur then starred with the bat too, hammering a quick 52 off 50 balls, and 40s from Manmohan Ghoshdashtidar and Champak Profulla got the Hunks over the line with 11 overs and 4 wickets to spare!

Thank you to all of you who took part! I had a lot of fun. We will started the 2nd season of the CWC soon. The format will be T20s, I'll set it up the tournament page in game and send out invites by next weekend.

So I'm scrapping the PM chain plan because it turns out we can only have 6 people in that at a time, and right now there are 7 of us playing Stumped.

@jimmy101 @morgieb have you got your teams yet?

@Magrat Garlick surprised to see you selling Matthew Tudor! He's a gun.

If I can poach him for under half a mill it would be well worth it. Would slot into my squad perfectly. Reasonable fielder too, only wish he wasn't English lol.
