I'm actually working on a proposal to post on the forums. I think 1 up 3 down is too harsh. We could reduce the number of Div 3 leagues have just 2 teams relegate from Div 2 instead, and then reduce the number of Div 4 leagues too so that just 1 team relegates from each Div 3. This way you keep human-run teams in leagues filled with other human teams across all levels, while also making Div 2 a bit more forgiving. Right now it's ridiculously cut throat, a run of bad luck or losing a key player to injury can lead to relegation.
I have read your proposal on the forum. It is eloquently and respectfully put imo.

If I follow correctly it is just suggesting we have 48 teams in each zone within division 3 instead of 72. As the number of human teams currently in the zones ranges from 19 - 39 - it in effect means consolidating living teams and removing 24 bot teams from the game (24 bots = 3 divisions removed so - becoming 3.1 - 3.6 instead of 3.1 to 3.9) .

If you come from the angle that BOTS are just a necessary evil to keep the game running, then it should never be a goal to create a game where we build in permanent and unnecessary BOTS...... so on that basis consolidation would be a priority and then almost by default you end up with 6 divisions anyway- as you propose.

(Asia with 53 bot teams out of 72 in div 3 must make for an incredibly boring season).

Of course the game changes in terms of your fitness, squad size and opportunity to play youth when you have only 1 bot in your league instead of 3 but ... it becomes the 'same boat' for your human competitors and - that is the mission statement really of any competitive game (board / virtual/ whatever) - rather than the artificiality of bots .

I hope the post gets plenty of reactions so I can see all the thoughts and angles I have not considered!

Well done on it

Big win there for Moooo! CWC4 Div 2 heating up.

So I went with Andy Li, and we won the game :) He scored 32 off 38 as we piled on 287/8, and then took 2/43 in 8.1 overs (avg ball quality 6.1) as we bowled them out for 215. 58k ratings for FHK vs 52k for our opponents. Lester Shum responded fabulously to taking the new ball, this might be a strategy we repeat more often. FHK are in SOD Div 2 as well, hopefully they manage to stay up this season!

Double headers vs @Charlie B in the CWC4 today. ZCC vs The Buy Ins and FHK vs Jura CC. ZCC will be resting several senior players - I think we should still win, but The Wild Geese are stiff opponents. Should be a fun match. FHK might stay unchanged for the SOD yesterday. Pitch should be flat, so lets see if 3 spinners works out.
The Wild Geese have been put to flight by ***** - scattered with a huge total of 308. The pitch looks decent so 250 was on the cards but this is going to need a gargantuan effort and I fear a very big pasting as we try to fly at over 6 an over!

Jura did better - they winkled through the FHK top and middle order and managed to get to that notorious long tail. It wagged right at the end but we would have taken 170 to win any day. However as Billy Shakespeare said 'tis many a slip, tween cup and lip'. A long way to go but we have given ourselves a shout

Cheers mate.

And yea Andy Li has nipped out an early wicket here, but 170 is definitely below par. Zaman Umer and Tharindu Goonesekera wrecked us, took out our entire top 8 between them! Immense performance, we're going to need something equally fantastic.

ZCC's batting was fantastic today. Century for Heshan de Mehlo (freed of the burden of having to keep in the 2nd innings) and 96 from Shkorer, with 42 from D'Estandau to help lay the platform. Ghani then nipped out a wicket in his first over. 60.5k ratings for ZCC today despite 4 U21s in the XI. Heartening. Means our transition is going well.

At 55/4 that 170 is looking Bradmanian!

Meanwhile at the Dom Dom Memorial Ground the Buy Ins coaching team are frantically searching for our famous tail end medium trundler Narayan Vimit. Despite taking 2 (rather 'after- the - event') wickets - he was apparently so traumatised by the worst 10 over figures of his career that he ran blindly out of the ground in tears, into the oncoming traffic ........ let's hope he's not expired as it seems certain the goose is gonna be cooked and he'll be required to bat!

I think FHK is a young team with 6 U21s in the XI, but Jura CC have 7!

Looking good for us atm but JCC's number 7s and 8s have both scored 100s, so plenty of batting yet to come.

EDIT: Welp, nevermind.

The Wild Geese rebuilding well after a couple of early wickets. Asking rate not out of check yet, and batting gets much easier once we're out of the powerplay. ZCC need another breakthrough soon.

Jura 62- 6! I cannot put a gloss on it ....management is very disappointed and Goon and Umer have faces of thunder as they start padding up!

FHK bowling quality is at 6.5 so Jura's batting only has itself to blame ...... Saying that Goon and Umer only averaged 6.5 quality and took 7/59 - so sometimes you have to be pitch side to really have a true feel for what's 'going off' out there!

CWC'ers - the famously comically named (not by me!) Sajid Sajid is selling in the next 14 hours - currently only $4k in the bids

Coming soon - a rare treat ...... an innings from 'The Goon' - a man who always selects the right shot ....... to then play atrociously......... without an amoeba of ability whatsoever! ?‍♂

Do not be fooled by 'The Goon's' Everest-like SOD batting average of 3. It has been ballooned by his partners striking out and getting out when he walks to the wicket and leaving him with a hatful of not outs and occasionally scoring half a dozen against bots! I might imagine against human opposition he averages less than 1!

Fatigue starting to set in for FHK. Bowling losing it's sting, and with two competent bats and not many runs to defend this game is still wide open.

LOY should be returning to the attack soon. His spell will be huge.

The wickets have dried up but so have the runs - we are just one ball away from defeat really (see Goon above!). If these guys could eek out another 20 runs then we might eye a 'losing point'

That ball arrived and Bell departs at 123 - 47 needed to win or more realistically we need 13 for a consolation point

As Roy Orbison once sang ....'It's over!' - a 21 run win for FHK in a very watchable game - As predicted (well you didn't need to be Mystic Meg) Mr Goon lasted for a ball!!

The red top headline should be ' It's Wong wot Won it' !! His cameo innings at No.11 was in start contrast to Goon's! - he took a liking to the bowling off Marwick and struck 3 4's off him in his innings of 14 which pushed the FHK total ultimately just out of reach of Jura

Congratulations to FHK.

That table is gonna look very tight tonight!

Mr Vinit, Mr Vinit...,
we may need you in a minute ,
Put your batting gear in joint,
Help us secure a vital point !

Oh no!!!! double shame for Narayan - first he loses us 5 points and now fails to salvage 1 - all he had to do was hold an end up whilst the settled batter scored 8 but no ... he takes a wild slog and adds a quack to his disastrous bowling performance

The ***** mean machine motors on!!

(Yes I did have spare time on my hands today! ;) )

Two very good performances there. LOY was great, Andy Li was great, and overall the bowling was fantastic. Skipper Tin Yau with a bullet arm direct hit runout to break the dangerous Wilton/Bell partnership. 65 runs between them, the largest partnership of the game! Wilton kept on going, played a very good innings of 62*, but just ran out of partners in the end. LOY dismissing the 10 and 11 in consecutive balls, JCC fall 21 runs shot. Low scoring classic, the wear and cloud cover had an effect and the heat made playing long innings difficult.

And meanwhile ZCC pick up a 69-run win over TBI. Very pleasing. 4 wickets for Ghous Ghani, 4 catches and 13(8) not out for Jamal Madani. Suggests they should be ready to step up when Yattack and Zahid leave the club.

GG CC pulled off a similar heist to FHK today as well, defending 172 fairly comprehensively against Dynamo Schmaltzberg. The senior Dynamo side also fell short in their chase, all out for 208 chasing 230 against TMO! Not a good week for chasing sides in CWC4 Div 1! TMO now take 2nd place after that win, while ZCC have extended their winning streak to 6 games.

Proud of TMO performance great little knock from Davidson to help put something competitive on the board. As always bowling strong. Burger turning into a beast.

I'm less pleased obviously but a well deserved win. Might be time to bite the bullet on Kotze, he hasn't really found a role in this team and younger batsmen are leapfrogging him.

A tough induction for ZCC's new Dev team skipper - 17 year old Jim Winthrop. He's lost 3 Dev friendly matches in the space of 2 days!

It started with a ZCC vs FHK dev friendly yesterday, where Winthrop made his ZCC debut. ZCC rested Ahsan and Ramalingam, while FHK picked an extremely young side, with all six U21s who played in the CWC4 game earlier in the day being rested. 44K ratings for ZCC vs 35k for FHK, this should have been a comfortable tune up match for ZCC at the Dom Dom Memorial CG. Instead, Lam and Hui ripped out the ZCC top order on an extremely grassy wicket. We were 72/5 and then 116/8. Bashir and Chester lifted ZCC to a respectable 159 a/o - below par but #RunsOnTheBoard. Bashir, Ghani and Chester then got to work on the FHK batting, and a couple of runouts saw the visitors slip to 111/8 themselves, but Lam and Hui once again played spoil sport. Lam carried his bat for a match winning 53*, hitting the winning runs off Winthrop in the final over! Hui scored 6 off 27 in a 43-run 10th wicket partnership to all but win the game for FHK. He got out with 6 runs and 9 balls remaining, but Huston held his nerve, allowing Ivan Lam to seal the upset. Great game.

Then today morning saw ZCC pay a trip to the Basin Reserve, where an equally-rated ataraXIa Dev XI awaited us. No changes in the ZCC XI, and once again Winthrop lost the toss and we were sent in to bat. Once again we managed just 159, despite reshuffling the batting order. Once again this proved below par, although it was a much more comprehensive chase by AXI. 64 for Ghous Saadi and 43 by Shawn Dee saw them win by 5 wickets with nearly 12 overs to spare.

Then the afternoon saw the same XI head down to 5DNOL to play a full-strength FHK side, which clocked in at an impressive 55k. Young Jim won his first toss for ZCC and elected to field, and we were sent on a leather hunt as Chung, Law and Ying-kit helped the hosts pile on 229/6 in their 40 overs. 230 was a steep chase and we didn't get close. Ghani hit 69 and the skipper himself biffed 34* off 40 as we managed just 171 a/o.

Three tough results for us to take back to the drawing board! Winthrop will be making his official league debut as captain tomorrow, he'll be hoping for a turn of fortunes!

Hi everyone, I have played stumped in the past, but recently started playing again, and putting some effort into developing a good, homegrown team. Just taking a look at the Stumped community here on the forum to see who is playing and what’s happening. During the distant past when Cricsim was in its heyday, I enjoyed the Stumped banter and competitions etc….hopefully see you all around.
