Mooo made light work of GG CC today in the first match of a double-header today.

GG batted first and after a 40-run opening stand between Bram Human and captain Ernst Levy, they found themselves being 4 down for 77. Wickets kept on falling at regular intervals as the bowlers from Mooo tightened run-scoring opportunities for GG's batsmen. They were eventually bowled out for 148 in the 44th over. The two leg-spinners were the pick of the bowlers for Mooo. Nazar Jawad grabbed 3 for 21; Imran Zahid with 2 for 25. Pacers, Tom Toogood, and Lahiru Vethanayagam picked up 2 for 26 each....and Wermelskircher with 1 for 41.

The slow nature of the wicket saw GG's bowlers making inroads almost immediately. Mooo lost their 5th wicket with the score on 78, but keeper Zack Truman was able to form a partnership with Jawad and together they took the score to 117 before Truman's demise. He made 46 (51). The required was never gonna be an issue as long as the batsmen just occupied the crease. Captain Toogood just hung around with Jawad and soon the target was achieved in the 37th over.

Now on to the second game of the double-header. GG have won the toss and elected to bat first on a decent batting track. Capacity crowd (5100) at the Mooo Cricket Ground.

A pretty cautious start for GG CC batting first...since losing Cornelius Human for 2 to a run out....the 4th wicket pair of Riaan de Villiers and Jayraj D Souza have added 35 runs so far and they are building a base for the big hitters...

It's the 23rd over and they are 89/3

EDIT: McCormack just broke the partnership snaring D Souza for 22(34).

BTW, my $100 K-plus player, Wermelskircher with figures of 7-3-8-0 so far.

Just past the halfway stage of the innings...and half the side back in the pavilion.

Christo Theron with 11(22) and Riaan de Villiers on 31(50), are hunkering down.

You slurp some coffee, chase some flakes round a bowl and open up Stumped...........................................

14 pops ---- exciting , who's got 'em you wonder...... click on squad, order by age ...you're not looking not looking ......

:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown loads of green numbers to the right of the screen - they've fooled you again !!!!- 14 pops is 14 pops you say but

experience pops arent what you want.... captaincy pops nah, fielding pops??? there worth something I guess (like copper coins in your pocket) , but they're not a proper pop are they.......

wait is that ..... no its a stamina pop:schmoll:!!!

Finally YESSSS - Batting pops but - ****e its for tail end Charlie with Act /Pot of 7 out of 15 for his batting - no use either in the big picture :ranting:

All that hope and at the end of the day 2 bat pops for your batsmen and 2 for your bowlers

As Geoff would say 'that's roobish that is'

So GG CC have been shot out for 2 more than what they made earlier in the day. 150 all out. Riaan de Villiers top-scored with 40 (65), the next best being 22(34) from D Souza...barring the 28 extras.

Alf Henton came into this game to prove a point, and boy did he...top wicket taker with 4 for 23 off 7 overs. The leg-spinners kept things quiet and between them took 3 wickets. McCormack with 2 wickets. The 100k dollar man, Wermelskircher didn't pick up any wickets....but he was tight as ever: 10-4-11-0

Don't sneeze at experience guys - thats the main skill that helps you avoid collapses or unecessary run-outs!

I saw a big change in my squad's performance as their experience went up, even while their skills remained more or less the same.

Moooooo just delivered an upset against the table-toppers in our league.

Expert preview had them at 12K rating points more than our team.

We won the toss and chose to bat first.
Our opening pair of Bart Way and Tsungirirai Meyiwa added 53 for the first wicket in 8.5 overs before captain Meyiwa edged one to keeper Agha for a run-a-ball 20. Aat Bernstein came in to replace his captain at number and provided excellent support with the more experienced Way. They put on 90 off 154 balls for the second wicket when Way was bowled for 72 off 116 balls.
10 balls later Bernstein fell to Chris King for 51(81). At this point less than 14 overs were left and the score was on 153…Keith Tindall and keeper Zack Truman provided the acceleration. They added 53(37) for the 4th wicket. Tindall made 23(20) and Truman made 43(30)…
Some slogging at the end saw us reaching a score of 263/7 in the allotted overs.

At this stage I simply said to myself that they will chase it down with 4-8 overs to spare.

They started the chase well, batting 22 overs before losing the first wicket, but the problem was that they allowed the required rate to blow up a little bit. Credit must go to the economical Wermelskircher and Richard McCormack.
After the fall of the first wicket on 92 in the 23rd over, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals…and while the required rate was ballooning.
The two wrist spinners, Jawad and Zahid kept things in check in the middle overs. There were a few cameos at the back end of the innings but the wickets kept on tumbling. McCormack cleared up the tail to end with figures of 8.5-1-40-4.
Jawad with 10-0-57-3
Zahid with 10-0-59-2
Henton with 9-1-48-1
Wermelskircher didn’t pick up any but he ensured that he put the pressure on…

Mooooo won by 16 runs.
Player of the match: Richard McCormack

We sit on number 4 spot on the table with a positive net run rate.

Bram Human and his skipper Levy, have added 50 for the first wicket so far, and look to be comfortable at the crease. They are batting better than in the last two matches between the teams.

The slower ball from Goliath does the trick and Barnard has to walk back to the pavilion for a well made half century.
They’re not reaching 170 now.

15 runs off the final over and AA see themselves with some form of momentum. That’s the boost they needed.

180 on this pitch might be tricky batting second.
