But that's what we are looking for, isn't it? Who contributed the most to as many victories as possible.
When you're looking for someone who was the best match winner, they have to be winners.
This is where we disagree. I believe match winning should be defined as who contributed the most to the victories the team had, regardless of the actual number of wins.

I mean are we really going to say Sachin was a greater matchwinner than Lara?

Not going to comment on NFL because I don’t follow it at all, but in basketball at least, a single player easily has far more impact on a result than any cricket player and is far more likely to win a game by themself.

I go for who tips the scale more on the continuum from certain loss to certain win. This is why I put the best bowlers of all time over the best batsmen as "matchwinners", objectively they are more capable of doing this more consistently.

Think the almost consensus mount Rushmore is..

Jordan, Lebron, Kareem, Magic
Falling to the ESPN hype. Man, Magic gets overrated so much on those lists - not as much as a fellow Laker of course (that might be a slight overreaction, I just hate he’s always getting mentioned when Bird isn’t despite me having them together, both outside my top 5). Also a Mount Rushmore is dumb, just do a top 5 ya silly Americans.

Anyway back to cricket…

Silly Bias Rushmore really. Especially considering a guy with 3x more records than all in Mt. Rushmore combined is given non sense reasons for not being there. Especially considering Wilt in one leg knocked Jabbar and matched him pound for pound. Also threw Magic out of UCLA at the age of 43. Both Jordan and Lebron would have met similar fate but were fortunate to have never encountered The Real GOAT

As you have seen the trend.... You're actually totally on point. I am Indian, have grown up hearing about stories of these Indian players; hence I tend to rate them higher than many non-Indians does. Is it biased? Yeah, to an extent definitely. Though mate, you also tends to do the same for many West Indian players.....
I can't compare Steve Waugh to Everton Weeks because they are from two different eras but I will give the edge to Mr. Weekes
