Yes but there's a significant dissonance in his record in uncovered pitches and covered ones, where he was much more of a defensive bowler. So not a totally fair comp.
If someone has that data, it could be pretty useful actually. Do you know if it's possible to get it or if someone has it here?

I think after Warne, Murali and O'Reilly, you can make a case that the next ten spinners all belong in one tier and there isn't a strict criteria to set an order.

Also on WPM, 4.17 vs 3.45. On removing SL and NZ, Underwood's WPM is just 3.21, which is really really poor, especially for a frontline spinner

The reason I rate Tendulkar ahead is mainly because because of his dominance over Warne

He was ok vs Murali and against the next level of spinners I think he did about as well as what Viv faced.

Viv generally struggled in Sydney to Trundlers for some reason I believe. Not 100% sure tho

The problem (though to no fault of his own) with Viv vs Spin is both his best Series vs Spin were in his first 2 years of Test cricket. Later on he faced mostly duds.
1980 in Pakistan with Qasim and Qadir.

Also a top knock in India in 89 on a spinning wicket.

Chandra deserves a vote ahead of Underwood. Bigger match winner away, better in Australia and Significantly in WI, 1 WPM difference alongside the 1 AVG without minnow level batting sides.
You tried in the Chandra vs Underwood thread too. Underwood won there. It's time to give up.
