same level but a little bit higher than Cook and Hayden
For me personally, I rate Smith/Greenidge/Hayden/Sehwag at a similar level. All have their positives and negatives, and my ordering of them is far from set. All for sure behind Boycs and all for sure ahead of Cook

Why do you have Sehwag "for sure" over Cook?

Here is my order

Greenidge: Overall very dominant in a tough bowling era.

Boycott: Don't like him at all but he did have a good record

Hayden: I have recently moved him ahead in my rankings based on his sheer peer rating consensus as the best opener of the 2000s and so many players talking about his bully effect.

G. Smith: Very close to Hayden but I would argue his only real big advantage over Hayden is England. But it's not enough for me to overcome Hayden's sheer peer consensus.

Sehwag: Too weak in swinging conditions

Not sure I will would place Boycott before or active Hayden. I am tempted to say after Hayden because Boycott having a SR in the 30s is kinda ridiculous. Having said that, Boycott is simply better at surviving the new ball against great attacks.

in swingy conditions where batting gets easier as match progresses, slower and steadier batting is more productive than attacking. Gordon against extra bounce and reverse is a bigger issue than Geoffrey's batting ideology.

Well as opener his job is primarily to survive the new ball so I can't fault him too much for SR even if he is unusually bad.

He played in an era when the greatest batsman of England were their openers : Boycott, Edrich and Amiss..rest were at best mediocre. So surviving never acts as a limitation.
