Comes under greatness for me after a certain threshold is met.
Whats the threshold for a bat and bowler?

Because we don't judge players on peak, we are obliged to judge how they handle the stresses of longer careers as a part of player ability.

He had some great performance in non spin friendly countries. Had a really good tour of Australia and won them a test in SA in 2011/12.
a couple of good performances inbetween aren't really going to make up for such an absurd lack of consistency outside home though.

Herath was pretty good in Australia, Pakistan and given impact, fine in SA though. But yeah, sucked everywhere else.

Herath has a poor away record, and I agree with that. His home record, however, cannot be disregarded. With an outstanding WPM of 5.6 he claimed 278 wickets at an average of 23.65 in those 49 home games.

He had to carry the weight of a bs bowling attack. He literally had no bowling support at all.

These two are, in my opinion, much more comparable than most people realise. Additionally, we must take longevity into account when comparing them.

Yeah he was awesome at home and somewhat comparable to Ashwin Jadeja as his pitches were not as spicy.
