Ramnaresh Sarwan- ODI batsman

Well....he is certainly well on the way to getting his test average up over his ODI average.

I know the runs he's getting atm have a fair bit of FTB about them, but could we be seeing a new chapter in Sarwan's career?

Thought has at least crossed my mind. Much as most of the recent runs have been pretty easy-pickings like, he's still hinted at a calmness and level-headedness that I've not seen in him since his very first few innings' in Test cricket back in 2000.

So I'll be keeping a careful eye on him after this series. We'll see if the problems with playing around that front pad remain once we get a pitch that does a bit again... whenever that may be.

The most encouraging thing for me is the way he's packed away the hook shot for the most part. A shade of Steve Waugh about it.

It is ages since one read of Sir Vivian raving about this youngster and not having seen him one waited anxiously to see Sarwan. Since then he has been on a roller coaster of sorts.

The great potential that Richards saw early seemed like an unfulfilled promise for long and the more mature Sarwan is doing justics, if it is at all possible, to what we have missed all thesae years. One wonders how much the poor fortunes of West Indian cricket have to do with the way Sarwan's career has prospered.

Chanderpaul, Gayle and Sarwan have all done well in shouldering most of the responsibility for the WIndies since Lara left. Their records when he was playing were much poorer.

Yep!

Sarwan has always been a class act in our ODI side....

He just hadn't been consistent enough in the Test team. Now, hopefully, that's changing.

Not so long ago, his Test average was under 40. Now, it's 43 and rising....
