If Djokovic hadn't had that age advantage he'd been in trouble vs Federer, no doubt in my mind.
I could also say that Federer benefitted from winning 11 of his Slams before Nadal became a great all court player and Novak figured out his health issues.

Federer definitely benefitted from Novak’s injury in the late 2010s - He won 1 Slam between 2011-2016. He won 3 out of 5 Slams which coincided with Novak’s injuries.

Not fair.

Fed & Novak have age difference of 5.5 years.

Novak & Alcaraz have age difference of 16 years
Sinner and Alcaraz haven't hit their peak yet. They are still developing, yet they have beaten him convincingly over the last 2-3 years. It tells you that younger elite players have a distinct advantage over older players.

If they were a few years older and had come around a few years sooner than they did, Djokovic may have struggled to reach 20 slams. He was lucky that there was almost no one there to challenge him post 2019 (except Nadal at French)

It’s good to see the next two greats tennis players.

Novak is 15 years older than them.

With Nadal’s retirement and him finally winning the medal; he is no longer the same Novak. He owns pretty much all records and doesn’t have the same fire.

I wish Novak wins number 25 but do not think it will happen.

He has 1-2% chance of beating Alcaraz and 0% chance of beating Sinner in a 5 set match.

seen the level Alcaraz is playing at when in full flow, he is right up there with these three.

Sinner though is an inferior version of Djokovic
I am not going to compare Sinner/Alcaraz with those 3 yet

All 3 of them had battles with one another and their records are simply on another level.

Sinner or Alcaraz
1. Who do you like more?
2. Who do you think ends up with more records?
3. Are we going to see another 3rd man like Novak?

Alcaraz
Way too soon to predict they will take a similar course to Big 3. It's equivalent to thinking Yamal and Mbappe will fight like Messi and Ronaldo for the Ballon D'or over the next decade, and Haaland might be 3rd

As a sidenote, its interesting to me to see how tennis has swung away from traditional powerhouse countries in the men’s game. Australia has no (singles) Grand Slam winners since 2002, USA since 2003 and France since 1983. UK has 2013 with Murray.

Are UK really a powerhouse though? Murray might be their best player, the only other contenders are all pretty WWII like Perry and Renshaw (1880s!)

Just saying it's an ancient tradition, like them being Football powerhouse
I could’ve just said Australia and America but I’m trying to be nice.

Fun stat: Across men’s and women’s singles, America and Australia combined have won more Grand Slams than every other country combined.
