It's much harder to think of an example of a player who was much better in ODIs but debuted in Tests.

While you'd never describe him as being "much better" in ODIs, Morne Mokel played test cricket first but was arguably a better ODI bowler, especially compared against other South African bowlers (he has a better ODI average than Steyn, Rabada, and Abbott).

Flintoff was at his best in Tests tho. Was consistently good in ODIs but his peak in Tests was far better IMO
