Better technique
Lara had technically flaws outside off stump that were brutally exposed by McGrath in 96 series. And in the late 90s he was playing well away from his body very often and was generally quite loose. He was never comfortable with bounce directed at his body.

Even in his late career, as Sobers pointed out, he would still follow deliveries that got him in trouble but thankfully pitches were flatter.

Sunil is the superior technician but Lara was a far more brilliant strokemaker and slogger. I guess Gavaskar was technically better so he'd have greater consistency but Lara at his very best is something Gavaskar can only dream of challenging.

Depends on whether or not your believe orthodox necessarily means better. I do not. This is why Shiv Chanderpaul remains my spare god.

Lara wasn't a slogger.

He had issues with deliveries swinging in to him as well. Waqar earlier and Vaas later (especially in ODIs) exploited it.

Lara was weak against ball going out and ball coming in, what the **** was the mf stronger against then according to you lads?
You're better off ignoring certain posters, I know I try to. Lara had eye problems and injuries throughout his career that hindered his output at time and he was suspect vs the short ball aimed at him. That series vs McGrath with the away ball was a one off.

You'll find that yeah Lara struggled vs Donald and the Wws and even McGrath at times. But I keep coming back to an undeniable fact: Lara blasted each and every one of those attacks in limited overs and McGrath in both formats. So it's not as if he couldn't make runs vs them. Lara once had a sequence of : 128, 111*, 26*, 49, 114, and 95*. The first 4 were in South Africa vs Pakistan and South Africa and the last two vs the Ws in the WI.

As usual you agree with me even when you say ignore me. He had all those issues I mentioned.

Dude I myself made the point countless times that early stage Lara didn't have problems with high pace until his eye problem in 1994 and cite the exact same ODI hundreds you do.

Subs in this case I wasn't referring to you. You're not a troll. I'm referring to that person who rated Dev over 80s WI vs spin.
