Dirty great sloggage from Zaheer (33*, 13b) results in 246/9.

Will be a good chase. Let's see if the NZ top order holds...

23.5 Kartik to McMillan, no run, flatter trajectory, hit on the pads,
sweep attempted, no run
ball slips out of Kartik's hand, back to mid on, Mcmillan insists
he want to hit the ball, goes all the way to mid-on and mistimes
his shot, fielder throws it back for a run out, umpire declares it
a dead ball!

You had to see it to believe it!:O

30.4 Bahutule to McMillan, SIX, full length ball, well flighted, lofted
imperiously over midwicket, great shot! First six of the game for the Kiwis.

Go Kiwis! McMillan at 49 from 57, Styris at 34, NZ 96 behind with 18 ovs to spare...oh how they deserve a win in this series...

Ok it's Styris... didn't notice that he also had 3 wickets.....impressive all-round performance.....

That is absolutely sensational batting from McMillan & Styris on a pitch that got to worse to bat on throughout the match.

Good to see McMillan making some runs.:) NZ played very well allround, some surprise there with Styris taking most of the wickets.

I don't think McMillan was ever really out of form from the test series, I just think he was under pressure against Australia with all the wickets falling & the surprise of the swing.

The next game is at 8.30 am so god help the side who loses the toss.

regarding the funny incident where mcmilan went all the way to mid on to hit the ball from karthik, was it a dead ball in the first place?
never seen this happen before and the way mcmilan insisted on hitting the ball,i thought there's some rule that allows batsman a free hit if the ball slips out of bowler's hand !

As far as I'm concerned & I could be wrong, you are aloud to hit the ball if it slips out of the bowler's hand. But on this occasion it was deemed a dead ball because the ball did not go past the bowling crease or the stumps (one of the two).

Oh yea !! Great win for us..Good work Maca and Styris.. yea i think maca was out of form aswell..but maybe at times i was a bit to too harsh to give him my boot..

Oh and the Lbw decision to Tendulkar was wrong.. totally. i was loving watching him bat

IMO McMillan & maybe Styris to some extent were never out of form from the test series.

They didn't bat against India in the 1st game..semi-recovered NZ in the first Aus game but then flopped in the 3rd game & I don't blame them because wickets were tumbling & technically only the best batsmen would have been able to defuse that situation.
Styris & McMillan are good, but they're not world class at the moment.

So it came as no surprise to see the two of them scores runs again, I think it was just a temporary glitch.

You're all missing the point and acting like I've said he's never played a decent hook or pull in his life. I'm just saying that I've seen something in his technique which suggests he'll struggle when really tested with short-of-a-length bowling.

hahaha bevan cant hook much either, well i think this article is interesting (cricinfo)

The new Michael Bevan
It's probably sacrilegious to even mention them in the same breath, but there's an uncanny similarity between Michael Clarke's performances in his short international career so far, and Michael Bevan's record at the same stage of his career. In their debut ODIs, both made unbeaten 39s, anchoring their teams to wins in run-chases. Bevan's ODI stats have been dominated by a significant number of not-outs, and Clarke seems to be going the same way too: three unbeaten innings out of seven, exactly as many as Bevan had at the same stage. Bevan's first half-century only came in his tenth ODI, though; Clarke already has two in seven. His average will surely come down from its current lofty perch of 70.25, but, if his early matches are anything to go by, Australia have probably found a key member of their batting line-up for a long time to come.

After their first seven innings …
M I NO Runs Ave 50s
Bevan 9 7 3 225 56.25 -
Clarke 7 7 3 281 70.25 2
