Just saw Miller's in the squad for the rest of the ODIs and the 20/20 squad. South Africa being funky for the first two ODIs.
Can they really afford to be funky they are in trouble of not qualifying for world cup.

Given he is 29 and competing against the likes of Chase, innings like this will get him back into the test side. He also can’t go down the global 20/20 route. Hope one of the few single format ODI cricketers.

There's clearly a lot to build with in this windies ODI side. Mayers is gun at the top and gives them an extra bowling option, hope is making runs at 4 and pooran is solid at 5, plus akeal hosein is a handy #8 and a gun odi spinner. Just need another decent bat and some bowling and they could be very good.

Genuinely a hetymyr would make this team gun. I reckon rakheem at 7 + hosein gives you 2 spinners + enough batting for India. Mayer's also means you have 6 genuine bowling options which should be enough.

This is why balance is so important for an odi side..
This current team lacked balance, no 6th bowler meant the SA bowling attack was compromised at times and then you have Marco Jansen at no.7 which means you're not great at batting depth either ...SA refuses to learn ...5 bowler strategy and weak batting depth means you're relying on specialists to play blinders , there's no margin for error .

They can get away with it at full strength because they have one of the best top 6's in the world and Miller+VD are the two best death hitters going around. Makram playing means they have a solid 6th bowler, think they just need to bite the bullet and play a poetgueter or de swardt at 7 over a bowling allrounder.
