christ, do we have to?
Three ODIs and one T20I against NZ seems perfectly fine in theory until you realise they're playing Tests against SA at the same time so their squad will be pretty awful.

Five T20Is against Sri Lanka at home is really hell on earth.

Is this after or during Big Bash? Can only assume it will be something like "Best of the Big Bash XI"

I kind of get why the Sri Lanka series exists (T20 WC will be here later this year), but FMD it seems pointless.

I can cop a white-ball series against NZ but even then it still feels meh, especially given they're playing Tests at the same time against someone else.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
who is this Dettol team we're playing

Also as mentioned in a different thread the ODI series is probably the first non-WC ODI series I've been looking forward to, especially because we won't be sending an A team which will provide a lot of waaaahs if we burgle a series win.

Last year NZ played one ODI game in Oz with no spectators before the tour was cancelled due to Covid. This is just playing that series a year late. Anyway there is talk the tour might not go ahead as NZ Cricket hasn't booked any quarantine hotel rooms for the players as obviously thought trans-Tasman bubble would last and covid was under control.

Yeah and NZC indicated they hadn't wanted to put more pressure on the govt to grant them more quarantine spots with Women's World Cup, Netherlands, SA etc coming. I thought that was really strong in a moral sense.

Incidentally, our series in Australia doesn't clash with the SA Tests, but two weeks of quarantine would mean anyone who played in Australia would miss the first Test - and the Test series (rightly) given priority. So Kane, Jamieson, Boult, Southee, potentially Nicholls etc would miss the first Test and be underdone/mentally all over the show for the second. Disappointing, but unavoidable.

Kinda keen tbh. NZ seconds will get smashed but we havent played odis in so long and we need to suss our wc squad.

Would still be a reasonable NZ ODI side. Guptill, Taylor, Ferguson, Henry, Santner, Neesham, Bigman and Sodhi would all presumably be available (though Henry might be kept in NZ as cover for the test squad). The only major absences would be KW (who won’t be fit anyway), Conway and Boult.

We should see some new names. Ken McClure, Nathan Smith, Josh Clarkson, maybe someone like Henry Cooper. George Worker to partner Guptill.

Latham and Nicholls won't be available either.

KW, Conway, Latham, and Nicholls missing (4 of our 5 best ODI batsmen once Taylor finishes), with only Guptill recovering from injury. Bowlers and allrounders should be fine.
