This tour has been a good one for the anti-Blundell brigade, he didn’t get amongst the runs and didn’t set the world on fire behind the stumps.
Looking forward to the NZ A tour of South Africa. The fairytale debut of Foulkes should provide ample motivation to the up and comers.

Good side, but swap Jamieson and Smith around in the order

Apart from Mariu and Jacobs, what other specialist bats are under 30 who are deserving of a call up? Dale Phillips? Abbas?
Test cricket?

I'd say only Mariu, currently.

Hence why I'd go the interim Chapman and Kelly route to tide us over the gap.

The others still need more seasons. Need more FC hundreds. Apart from Phillips, but he isn't better than Nicholls.

But it is way brighter than it looked approx seasons ago.

Raises a fair debate. Wiaan Mulder was criticised (as was Shukri Conrad) for not shooting for records, so only fair to say it about another team?

I'm happy they didn't bat on but I was also critical of Mulder. I'd reckon that was different, given Mulder could have got there in 2-3 overs as opposed to NZ having to bat all day.

Interestingly, Lara thinks Mulder should have gone for it, too.

If we'd batted on and Nicholls scored 300 with Blundell 100* it would have made it tougher to drop them for the Windies

True.

It's actually a really rubbish article, especially this part:

If they had reached it and then Zimbabwe had batted out the next two days for a draw, or unlikely rain had arrived, few would have minded.

That's naivety at its extreme
