*Official* Match #4- South Africa vs Sri Lanka- Delhi (D/N)- October 7th

Two mid-tier teams up against it tomorrow

South Africa (probable XI): 1 Temba Bavuma (capt), 2 Quinton de Kock (wk), 3 Rassie van der Dussen, 4 Aiden Markram, 5 Heinrich Klaasen, 6 David Miller, 7 Marco Jansen, 8 Gerald Coetzee, 9 Andile Phelukwayo/Tabraiz Shamsi, 10 Keshav Maharaj, 11 Kagiso Rabada

Perera and Shanaka have been passed fit after missing Sri Lanka's last warm-up, but Theekshana misses out. This means Dushan Hemantha is likely to fill in once more.

Who to look out for?
-Wellalage
-Jansen

South Africa should win this but you can never underestimate their ability to choke in World Cups.

Sri Lanka aren't as strong as they used to be but they are still capable of causing an upset.

What's happened to Brevis and Tristan wotshisname? Neither are even in the squad. Are they out of favour already?

Rassie needs to bat long here. Don't want to send the middle order in too early given the quality of sri lanka's spin attack.

Brevis hasn't done alot in 50 over stuff so far and Stubbs is competing for a spot in the best 4-5-6 in ODI cricket right now. Stubbs probably makes the squad in different circumstances but there's only 15 total slots, not enough room to fit him in since he can only really bat lower/middle order. Same issue england had with brook before the roy injury.

Conceding four consecutive boundaries immediately following the wicket is not the best way of maintaining the pressure.

They were only used for T20 stuff and when resting the primary players in ODI. Klaasen and Miller and co where always first choice... really should not use internet hype that never existed in SA as a litmus for players.
Who me? Or in general?

But, cheers. I don't follow SA cricket that much at all. I saw the guy Tristan over here in the UK and he looked useful. I could well be guilty on Brevis, however. But I think he picked up an IPL contract, didn't he? Maybe that on the back of the u19 stuff.

You're a font of knowledge, pal! Posters like you are why I visit this forum. I really couldn't think of Tristan Stubbs' last name...

But, I'm so far behind, I didn't know the SA middle order was even one of the best around.

Brevis is a talented player got hype off the IPL contract but not enough consistency or experience to be picked for the team. Stubbs a bit more unlucky but I think he is a little one dimensional player. Needs a bit more experience as well.
