Given how low scores have been at the BKSP this year, Mohammedan’s 247 was a huge total. Marshall Ayub now has three fifties and a 47 in his five innings so far.

Abahani 171 (43.2) – Shakib Al Hasan 42 (56), Mohammad Rafique 26, Robiul Islam 29

A sane points system!

Also, does Nazmul play both for CCS and Gazi Tank?
Yes, a sane points system, for once.

No, some shocking Bangladesh ignorance there :p. I almost picked you up on it with your Nazgul reference but thought you must be trying to apply it to both Nazmuls.

Nazmul Hossain is the 'quick' bowler.

Nazmul Hossain Milon, as he is often referred to, is the Dhaka allrounder who bats lower middle-order and bowls some seam-up. Surely you remember this epic knock - maybe, if standards were viewed as equal (so a bit hypothetical...) the greatest List A innings of all time, especially given the circumstances, with Dhaka needing to win to take the title:

Is this Ajay Kudva the same guy who used to play Ranji Trophy cricket for Kerala in the Indian domestic? If yes, I am surprised because he apparently quit cricket for good some 4-5 years back!

Yeah he played for Kerala, pretty mediocre record so I guess he'll feel at home in the DPL.

I remember him being hyped up when he made his debut at a very young age but somehow did not focus enough and lost his place in the Kerala team (which is not very flattering). He then quit cricket altogether to concentrate on some other profession. He is talented no doubt. I think this might just be the "Shaun Marsh" signing for BDL this year.

Right. And he's the one playing for CCS, obviously.

I did comment on it (though a confused comment then too, it seems), so my memory must be budgie-like.

Match Reports from the Daily Star
Nayeem's 6-6s in vain

SCORES IN BRIEF
MOHAMMEDAN-GAZI TANK
Venue: SBNCS
GAZI TANK: 259-6 in 50 overs (Nazimuddin 43, Nafees 70, Kapali 24, Misbahul Haq 51, Nayeem 66 not out, extras 2; Saqlian 2-37).

MOHAMMEDAN: 261-7 in 49.5 overs (Shamsur 43, Ashraful 100, Riyad 29, Mahroof 36 not out, extras 19; Kamrul 3-61, Forhad 3-51).
Result: Mohammedan won by three wickets.
All-rounder Nayeem Islam scripted history in domestic cricket by hitting six sixes in an over but his terrific effort in the action-packed match was not good enough for Gazi Tank to stop Mohammedan's winning run in the Premier Division Cricket League yesterday.

In the end it was former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful's well-composed hundred which broke the heart of Nayeem as title contenders Mohammedan posted a three-wicket victory with one ball in hand in the chase of 260 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Nothing could have been better than the way Sri Lankan batsman Farveez Maharoof finished the exciting game by smashing a mid-wicket boundary against pacer Quazi Kamrul with seven runs required in the last over to overhaul Gazi's 259-6.

....
Abahani ride on Rafique

Hot favourites Abahani kept their winning streak in tact with a 92-run victory over Cricket Coaching School (CCS) in their Premier Division Cricket clash at BKSP yesterday, thanks to a brilliant 90-run knock from 72 deliveries from veteran all-rounder Mohammad Rafique that made their task easy.

Batting first, Abahani found themselves in a lot of trouble losing five early wickets, including left-hander Imrul Kayes and their skipper Shakib Al Hasan. It was a fine spell of bowling from left-arm pacer Syed Rasel with 4 wickets to reduce Abahani to 30 for five in the eleventh over. It was Arafat Sunny (43) batting at no. 7 who revived the innings somewhat. Then came the evergreen Mohammad Rafique at number nine, who hit six boundaries and four huge sixes to give Abahani a modest total of 204 losing eight wickets in allotted 48 overs.

In reply, CCS found themselves in trouble as they lost their skipper Uttam Sarker (6) very early and kept losing wickets. Mohammad Rafique came back to dismiss CCS's highest scorer Nizamuddin Ripon (28) to script an easy win in the end for Abahani.
BRIEF SCORES

Yup, got it all written out to stick up tomorrow when the other three games can be added. But just awesome from Naeem, exactly what Bangladesh need at number eight.

Mirpur: Mohammedan (6-0) beat Gazi Tank (2-3+1) by 3 wickets with 1 ball remaining
Gazi Tank 259-6 (50) - Nazimuddin 43 (56), Shahriar Nafees 70 (114), Alok Kapali 24, Misbah-ul-Haq 51 (50), Naeem Islam 66* (31); Saqlain Sajib 2-37

Naeem Islam worked his way in the DPL history books by becoming the first batsman to smash six sixes in a professional game on Bangladeshi soil, yet still finished on the losing side in an absolute thriller. A week after he smashed three consecutive sixes against Zimbabwe, Naeem made Marshall Ayub's off-spin his hapless victim, building on the base of fifties from Shahriar Nafees and Misbah. Shamsur and Ashraful then opened up with 99 for Mohammedan's first wicket before Maharoof took them home with a ball to spare.

BKSP: Abahani (6-0) beat CCS (2-4) by 92 runs
Abahani 208-8 (48) - Mohamamd Rafique 90*, Arafat Sunny 43, Nasir Hossain 20; Syed Rasel 4-20
CCS 116 (43.5) - Atiq-ur-Rehman 21, Nizamuddin 28; Nasir Hossain 3-24

Rafique smashed an unbeaten 90 from number nine, Sunny 43 from number seven.

Mirpur: Mohammedan (7-0) beat Biman (4-3) by 1 run
Mohammedan 234-9 (50) – Aftab Ahmed 62 (56), Khaled Mashud 49, Marshall Ayub 46, Faisal Hossain 29; Tareq Aziz 4-39
Biman 233-9 (50) – Avishek Mitra 61 (88), Jehan Mubarak 60 (85), Mehrab Hossain jnr 38 (47), Sanwar Hossain 23; Delwar Hossain 2-51, Farveez Maharoof 2-51

Biman required 14 from the last over, bowled by Saqlain Sajib. A sliced four to third-man and a dropped catch by Shamsur Rahman at backward point meant that the target became six from two balls. Saqlain then bowled Shafiul Islam and Tareq Aziz could only hit the final ball of the innings for four. Maharoof added to his two wickets with a pair of direct hit run-outs. Earlier, Mohammad Ashraful made a 19-ball duck for Mohammedan, who were reduced to 23-3 before Aftab and Khaled rebuilt with a stand of 108.

Fatullah: Abahani (7-0) beat Partex (0-6+1) by 170 runs
Abahani 303-8 (50)Rony Talukder 120 (105), Imrul Kayes 59; Mahbubul Alam 2-47

Rony (14 fours, 3 sixes) made his second ton of the season as Abahani dealt out a comprehensive pasting. 164-run opening partnership with Kayes.

BKSP: Gazi Tank (3-3+1) beat Surjo Torun (3-4) by 6 runs
Gazi Tank 174 (47.4) – Nazimuddin 52, Misbah-ul-Haq 26; Sanjamul Islam 3-31
Surjo Torun 158 (50) – Junaid Siddique 20, Imtiaz Hossain 30, Anisur Rahman 20; Abdur Razzak 2-28, Naeem Islam 2-25

Encouraging signs from Sanjamul Islam again, but Surjo Torun’s chase fell apart against the spinners.

Victoria 77-7 (29.4) – Arsalan Mir 21; Dolar Mahmud 2-15, Rubel Hossain 2-26

Both sides struggled on a damp surface – Victoria collapsed to 11 for four against the all-international opening duo of Dolar and Rubel, but eventually crawled over the finishing line.

Fatullah: Kalabagan (6-1) beat BKSP (2-5) by 175 runs
Kalabagan 276-9 (50) – Nazmus Sadat 26, Golam Mabud 66, Raqibul Hasan 34, Mohammad Zahid 60, Ariful Haque 49; Riaz Mahmud 3-50
BKSP 101 (31.4) – Liton Kumar 22, Atiqur Rahman 34; Shahadat Hossain 3-30, Enamul Haque 2-19, Nazmus Sadat 2-1

You only have to glance down the BKSP teamsheet to know why they’re struggling – not one recognisable name, even on the domestic circuit.

BKSP: CCS v Khelaghar – match abandoned due to wet outfield – to be played on Wednesday at Mirpur

CCS 106-5 (32.5) – Shuvagoto Hom 53*

Khelaghar’s season hit another low when they conspired to grant CCS four wickets through run outs. CCS fell to 42-4 in reply, but Shuvagoto steadied their response.

Friday

Returning from the Eid break…

Friday

Mirpur: Abahani beat Mohammedan by 6 wickets with 16.5 overs remaining

Mohammedan 192-4 (33.1) – Mohammad Ashraful 35 (26), Aftab Ahmed 107*, Mahmudullah 26

A brilliant hundred from Aftab settled the game in Mohammedan’s favour, allowing them to retain their 100% record. He smashed 15 fours and a pair of sixes and has now made five scores of fifty or more in ten games. Earlier, Mohammad Ashraful’s direct hit had removed Shakib just as he appeared to have calmed Abahani after a top-order collapse. Pakistani allrounders Abdur Razzaq and Naved-ul-Hasan played for Abahani and Mohammedan respectively.

Fatulllah: Kalabagan beat Surjo Torun by 56 runs
Kalabagan 212 (49.3) – Mohammad Zahid 92, Jubair Ahmed 37, Rasel Al Mamun 27; Sanjamul Islam 6-31
Surjo Torun 154 (28.3) – Imtiaz Hossain 38, Hannan Sarkar 24, Sanjamul Islam 20

Surjo got off to a flyer, with Imtiaz and Junaid Siddique piling on 86 in 53 balls – upon which Imtiaz’s dismissal triggered a loss of three wickets without adding to the score. Sanjamul continues to encourage.

BKSP: Biman beat Khelaghar by 64 runs
Biman 217 (46) – Elias Sunny 75, Jahurul Islam 57; Monowar Hossain 4-39

Fatullah: BKSP beat Partex by 3 runs
BKSP 182 (49.4) – Ashiqul Alam 29, Tanveer Haider 74; Mohammad Azim 4-47
Partex 179 (47.5) – Rashid Hanif 59, Tariq Ahmed 31, Rezaul Karim 38; Zakaria Masud 4-27

A bizarre finish condemned Partex to defeat in this clash of the minnows. Having rebuilt from 49 for four, they were cruising at 175 for six with 31 balls remaining, but four wickets – three to Zakaria – tumbled for just three runs in as many overs.

Mirpur: CCS beat Old DOHS by 3 wickets with 17 balls remaining

Kalabagan 250 (50) – Nazmus Sadat 41, Zubair Ahmed 32, Fariduddin 69, Ariful Haque 54; Aslam Khan 3-56, Syed Rasel 3-63, Nizamuddin 2-32
CCS 197-9 (50) – Uttam Sarkar 102 (138), Tarequzzaman 36, Shahbaz Butt 38; Nazmus Sadat 4-51, Mohammad Zahid 3-11

A tale of two collapses. Kalabagan slipped from 57 without loss to 75-5, but were bailed out by Fariduddin and Ariful; CCS were 175-1 after 38 overs in reply when Nazmus and Zahid provoked the tumbling of eight wickets for 22 runs.

Fatullah: Gazi Tank (4-6+1) beat BKSP (4-7) by 10 wickets with 34.3 overs remaining
BKSP 105 (26.4) – Asif Ahmed 29, Atiqur Rahman 37; Naeem Islam 4-5, Ziaur Rahman 2-22, Sajjadul Haque 2-36
Gazi Tank 107-0 (15.3) – Mithun Ali 35*, Mizanur Rahman 65* (58)

BKSP got thrashed. Enough said here.

BKSP: Old DOHS (5-6) beat Partex (0-10+1) by 107 runs
Old DOHS 268-7 (50) – Rumman Ahmed 86 (124), Nasiruddin Faruque 23, Fazle Rabbi 91 (85); Inamul Mustakim 2-34, Shiran Sharif 2-48
Partex 161 (34.3) – Gazi Salahuddin 43, Mohammad Sajib 30, Rezaul Karim 28; Nazmul Islam 5-27

Partex confirming their status as the worst team around. Old DOHS win put them through to the super league at the expense of CCS by virtue of their better net run rate.

Qualifiers for the next stage: Mohammedan, Abahani, Kalabagan, Biman, Victoria and Old DOHS. No idea whatsoever when it starts.

Actually looks like CCS went through ahead of DOHS, due to their head-to-head record. I hate that rule in any league, every game should count the same.

Also the super league should kick off on Thursday, with the relegation league on Sunday.

Tamim's buggered his hand.
Yeah, did it in the Zimbabwe series. He'll be a real gap to fill for the ODI series, I think Shahriar Nafees has just seen his chances of an immediate recall rocket. There's no way they'd take Mithun (who's been out of form anyway), Shamsur or Rony to partner Junaid (who will now probably hold onto his place). Ashraful could be another candidate to open, seeing as he's doing it ATM for MSC.
