Ehhhh...I'm glad the associates have a go, but 2019 was just so great, I can't help but feel that this is a bit of a backward step. Wouldn't mind so much if it was 12 teams, but 14 is stretching the resources of the associates too thin for my liking. The current 10 plus Zim and Ireland/Scotland would be ideal imo.

yeah 14 and 20 seem too many at this point. 12 and 16 may have been better for the WC and WT20s respectively. But then again, if it means shorter tournaments and a few more upsets, that is good for the game as a whole hopefully. And given IPL and other T20 leagues are a thing, it could establish a platform for good players from the minnows to make a name for themselves and actually make a proper career out of cricket, the importance of which cannot be underrated.

Four a year is too much imo. 3 every two years is much better

A T20 WC every 2 years is definitely overkill, but in the grand scheme of things it keeps Associate nations busy with pathway and qualifying tournaments, and gives them exposure which can lead to franchise T20 contracts, so all in all I'm not against it.

Positive news overall here.

And then in 2019 we got a set of finals. I don't reckon the group games were that special honestly. Some were but some always are.

Yeah, I feel like the fact that we got some good games (and an upset or two) towards the back end of the group stage kind of erased the memories of a dull first couple of weeks. There was a lot of rain and quite a few mismatches, IIRC.

I think it was only when Sri Lanka beat England that I started to get into it.
