Neil Harvey is one of these guys who's peer ratings exceeds their record. But many still claim he was the best Aussie bat since the Don (and probably now excluding Smith). Also not the biggest fan of Javed.

Both however batted in one of the toughest eras for batting, close one.

I think Harvey would be rated a lot higher if he averaged 2 points higher tbh

Actually up till the 70s most people rated the Top 5 Aussie bats as: Don, Trumper, MaCartney, Hill, Harvey.

He played in a really low scoring era. If he’d played in a batting era he’d likely have averaged 50 and would be rated as ATG instead of ATVG by most cricket fans

Smith is crushed for his average at home vs Australia, same scenario with Harvey in England I guess.
