Mundane sightings of high-profile cricketers

This reminds me I forgot to post about seeing Mark Orchard at the local pools with a group of his Tauranga Boys' kids.

I also recall it was rumoured he might be Blocky, but I think I worked out it was someone much less accomplished.

WAG he was. Still got the mo?
No, think he got rid of it quite a long time back. I also see him occasionally at Wellington airport when he's picking up people in his Corporate Cabs role (unsure if he's still doing that though).

He was in the carpark today in the disabled parking spot - I think that was for his wife though as he seemed to be moving freely. Although he did Mankad someone in the 1970s, so I won't rule out him being a naughty septuagenarian.

This will become (already is) my favourite thread.

I think my favourite two personal mundane sightings, are as follows - both being vehicle incidents.

1) Sir Richard Hadlee almost ran me down in his haste to get away from the Lincoln Academy. I wasn't aware it was him (driving too fast to see who was at the wheel) but the numberplate SIR431 gave it away.

2) We were umpired by Billy Bowden out at North Harbour Stadium, and silly Billy overtook me - at pace, with his caricature face and name sign written on the side of the car - in the carpark. Not on the road, in the narrow carpark. This was moments after, sensing an outright win and an early finish, he'd given a direct hit runout where the batsman was basically past the stumps, not the popping crease.
Did Billy give you the crooked finger before speeding off?

Nope, he was away at some pace so didn't get to see it. The crooked finger had come out earlier when he gave Brooke Walker the direct hit run out when 22 guys could see it wasn't close to being out

Mark Chapman, just now at Daily Bread in Stonefields. Unsure if he bought one of the hot cross buns which are nice but nowhere near as good as the Beabeas bakery ones ftr

Michael Kasprowicz was the guest speaker at my cricket association's presentation evening on the weekend. He started telling a story about Edgbaston with 'so I walked out to bat with 60 odd to win, 62 maybe?' to which I had great delight in shouting out '2 more than you got' in response.

Turns out I was the only Englishman in a room of ~130 people.

I saw David Bedingham in Barker and Stonehouse(a furniture shop) a few years back.

As their furniture is pretty expensive it was a good sign he was committing to staying in Durham.

As at the time was up in the air about him trying for England or South Africa international honours.

Back in probs 2017 I bumped into Mark Wood a few times in Morrisons

Then for the less mundane. I met him at Ashington CC and got a picture with the World Cup later in the summer after we won in 2019.
