The fact that there is so much going on off the field with South African cricket is probably hampering his performance. There doesn't seem to be enough stability in the team over the past few years.

Besides South Africa appear to be playing less test cricket these days that De Kock isn't being noticed enough in the first place.

Yeah, De Kock for Boucher would have given the SA team of that time the strong 2000s Aussie side look.
