Yea batsmen don't see to learn do they? You'd think after all these years they'd stop coming out to face fast bowlers without head protection. Everyone thinks they're Viv Richards. You even see modern batsmen do it sometimes against the medium pacers and it's still kinda dumb to do.Was he the bloked who got sconed by a Steyn bouncer and got a lump the size of an egg right on top of his head?
No, that was Craig Cumming. And he was wearing a helmet, it crushed the grill into his cheek. Was he the bloked who got sconed by a Steyn bouncer and got a lump the size of an egg right on top of his head?
That was Brett Lee at Eden Park, circa about 2005 or so? Geezus christ. I was in the terraces that day and the pace Lee was bowling, you were ****ting yourself even right out of the line of fire. Might've been the day Lee beamed McCullum as well? Hostile as hell. Was he the bloked who got sconed by a Steyn bouncer and got a lump the size of an egg right on top of his head?
Cumming actually got a pretty decent 48 before Steyn got him. Scored 74 on debut vs Australia too.No, that was Craig Cumming. And he was wearing a helmet, it crushed the grill into his cheek.
It’s a shame, they probably met the two fastest bowlers in their prime ... wouldn’t have been an issue in 90% of internationals.Cumming actually got a pretty decent 48 before Steyn got him. Scored 74 on debut vs Australia too.
Cumming and Papps both got better in first class cricket but never got enough chances at international level - probably due to being hit by raw pace.
With a strike rate of 60 however.Should definitely have played more for NZ ... 6 ODIs and an average of 51.75, very unlucky.
Papps still has it in him to get people talking.Good thread this
