Last letter draft - Version 1

CricAddict

International Coach
A fun draft. You can only pick the player whose first name starts with the last letter of the last name of the previous player you picked.

This draft will be version 1 where you pick from the last letter of your player. You need to think of future players in advance when you pick a player. And the player in your mind could be taken by someone during their turn as well. I hope this gets the game going.

In version 2 to be played some time in future, we will have the next drafter pick from the last letter of your player.

Please let me know if you are in. Now that CT draft is done and we are at the fag end of Odi draft, let's play this now.

Teuton

International Captain
Is it only most commonly used name?
Ie Bob Simpson, not Robert

Can't think of any non-trivial examples but I'm sure there must be some that aren't obvious.

Edit
Ie Ranji's first name is not really used so is he an R or a K

Silver Silva

International Vice-Captain
So if i pick Chaminda Vaas , my next option can be Sanath Jayasuriya because s is the last name of Vaas ?

Viv Richards first name is Isaac there's a huge example , @CricAddict what's the solution?

Even in my example if we going strictly by what cricinfo says then my example is incorrect

Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas is Chaminda's full name so I can choose someone like Adam Milne as next option

In other areas of the cricinfo profile (the URL, the top left on desktop, the headings for the sections of the profile) "Chaminda Vaas", or "Bill Woodfull", or "Viv Richards", or "Chuck Fleetwood-Smith", or "Pom Pom Fellows-Smith" are all used with regularity.

TIL Fanie De Villiers is actually Petrus Stephanus de Villiers in cricinfo. It will become quite strenuous to check the name each time in cricinfo. So, my suggestion is we can keep it simple and go by the most commonly used name.

Chaminda Vaas
Kapil Dev
Fanie De Villiers
Viv Richards
Bob Woolmer etc.

Another option is to keep both options available. For example, someone can choose either Isaac Viv Richards or Viv Richards.

I am OK to go with the most popular option from the forum. Once we decide an option, let's go by that rule for the whole draft. Should I add a poll?

I'm in favor of keeping both options , this Draft will be tough so leeway should occur, if player is going by uncommon name it should be stated in the pick

I vote for both being available for for greater flexibility
